Short-notice hotel booking specialist LateRooms.com is supporting Head for Points this week through some advertising, so I felt it was only fair to introduce the company properly to readers as I have not featured them on the site before.
Those of you with long memories will remember that LateRooms was one of the original British dot.com travel businesses. It was founded back in 1999, a lifetime ago in the internet age. The company is still based in Manchester where it was founded.
LateRooms was originally focussed on ‘same day’ bookings. Over time it has broadened its time frame and now offers properties up to a year in advance. The ‘bread and butter’ business remains offering good deals on properties for stays over the next few days.
Because it has been around forever, in internet terms, the company has forged very deep relationships across the UK hotel sector. It claims to offer more UK hotels than any other booking site from small B&Bs to luxury properties.
The company is not just focussed on the UK – the 150,000 hotels on its books include a large selection in Europe and elsewhere.

LateRooms.com has a separate section dedicated to UK business hotels which filters out some of their smaller or less suitable options. You can find the business travel home page here.

The depth of coverage offered by LateRooms means that you will find hotels covering the full price spectrum, from Tune Hotels and Travelodge up to five star properties, as well as a large number of independent hotels.
£5 Amazon.co.uk gift certificate promotion
Whilst the site has no rewards programme, it is currently offering something with more immediate payback – a £5 Amazon gift certificate when you book specific properties. There is no minimum stay requirement which makes this a good return on cheap one-night trips.
