British Airways launches Club Europe flash sale from Gatwick – 13 destinations at £150

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

Last week, British Airways ran a 48-hour flash sale on ‘Winter sun’ economy flights from Gatwick.

This week, it is offering discounts on Club Europe destinations from Gatwick.  13 cities are available at £150!

You have only 48 hours to book.

Full details can be found on this page of ba.com.

You must travel between 3rd November 2015 and 29th February 2016.

These are the cities included:

  • Venice – £150
  • Malta – £150
  • Innsbruck – £150
  • Nice – £150
  • Rome – £150
  • Bordeaux – £150
  • Faro / Algarve – £150
  • Marrakech – £150
  • Alicante – £150
  • Vienna – £150
  • Seville – £150
  • Friedrichshafen – £150
  • Genoa – £150
  • Geneva – £150
  • Naples – £150

These prices are marked ‘from’ – I don’t know how widespread the £150 seats are when you try to book.

This may be an attractive way to top up your tier points this Winter.  If you are on the way to Bronze or Silver status, a couple of weekends away may be enough to tip you over.  You will earn a minimum of 80 tier points return on these routes.

Marrakech and Malta offer exceptional deals if you want tier points.  As the BA tier point calculator shows, these routes offer 160 tier points return.  Spend just £300 to visit both Marrakech and Malta this Winter and you will get BA Bronze status!  You would also earn 4,000 Avios return on those routes.

I have never seen Club Europe pricing this low apart from on ‘next door’ routes such as Amsterdam or Dublin.  The idea that you can get all the way to Malta in business class for £150 return is incredible.

Remember, you are getting lounge access, a recently improved on-board food offering, all the mini bottles of champagne you can drink, a guaranteed empty middle seat and fast track Gatwick security.

It is a world of difference, especially if having a break with your partner, from hanging around Gatwick and then being stuck at the back of the plane, sharing a row with a stranger, waiting for your mini-bag of crisps to come around …..

The sale ends at midnight on Wednesday.  Full terms and conditions can be found on the flash sale site here.

Looked this morning to get flights to Nice for Half Term skiing in the Southern Alps. All good to go for less than £600 for 4 of us. AbsoIute steal and I got very excited. Mailed wife to double check she has the spare holiday. By the time she came back to me at 2.30pm the flights were over £2,000…….Oh well, back to EasyJet……..

    • harry says:

Next time try & be a bit more decisive, she’ll thank you for it 🙂

      • harry says:

I book BA RFS flights for myself & the 3 kids 355 days in advance for obvious reasons.

My wife doesn’t like to be so forward planning.

‘Why? Why now? I don’t know.’

We’re talking Xmas, Easter, summer holidays, half terms, all known dates.

Somehow the answer ‘because it costs less money & gives certainty’ carries little weight.

        A woman: please explain. 🙂

    • Kai says:

Same happened on me for the Malta route…
Should have been more decisive, there’s a 24hr window to cancel the ticket anyway…

  • Mike says:

Thanks Raffles – just booked my annual Feb SCUBA diving trip to Malta, £225 incl hotels and transfers! I paid nearly twice that amount for the same time this year – BARGAIN!

    • harry says:

      PADI Divemaster

      • harry says:

        all dives in tropical water

        • Waribai says:

Exactly…once you go tropical you never go back!

          • simon says:

Argh you guys, i’ve only just booked RAK, how’s the weather for SCUBA in feb?

          • harry says:

Never dived it though when I worked in Qatar (which will be similar water temperature) we had a boat and used to take a mate out who did dive with 3mm or 5mm wetsuit I guess, no hood or gloves from memory (it was before I got qualified) – that included dives in February so is certainly OK then

  • RK says:

That is a good deal! £500 for 30k avios is very generous.

  • richard says:

How did you book ex eu. t&C say from Heathrow or city only?

  • Nick says:

Thanks Rob, Just Booked Venice for February.

  • Carsten says:

    Thanks a lot, Raffles.
I combined this with BA’s promo email offering me 9000 bonus Avios for a CE flight in Dec. Something to do with my anniversary.
So, £150 for CE to Marrakech plus 13k Avios and BAEC Bronze, all in one go. #happy

  • Jordan D says:

Interestingly, when using the Diamond Club discount on a 2 person RAK return, the price falls from £298.92 to £282.92, BUT the £150 discount for using 22500 Avios also disappears, meaning the maximum saving is £100 (for 15000 Avios).

  • Luke says:

Excellent deal and as I was just about to book a flight when I found out, how BA short haul business class actually looks like – 30 inch seat pitch in business is simply insane…Actually it is the same seat pitch, which you find on Ryanair…I am over 6 ft tall and this is not acceptable legroom for any flight over an hour…not talking about 4 hrs of torture on a way to Marrakech for example.

    • harry says:

That’s why an economy seat in emergency exit is better than most of the CE seats (if you’re tall). However, obviously the front seats in CE give you plenty of room & you can reserve free if you have status or just pay a few quid.

      • Worzel says:

        Good point Squills.

Mrs Gummidge and I had pre-booked seats on a 757 last month-exit row outbound and inbound. There was enough room on both flights to place a double bed in front of us! And, outbound we had 3 seats for 2-brilliant!

OT: Whilst away I read Mark Vanhoenacker’s book, Skyfaring -Rob suggested this as a good read earlier this year. On page 100 Vanhoenacker states; ‘….every pilot I’ve talked to who has flown the Boeing 757 has mentioned, unprompted, how powerful its engines are.” .

All in all great flights, and great read.
