News in brief:

Large bonuses at the ba.com Gate 365 shopping channel

Whilst there haven’t been any emails about this, British Airways is currently offering some very large bonuses via its Gate 365 shopping mall.

The White Company, for instance, is currently offering 24 Avios for every £1 you spend.  M&S is offering 8 per £1, Apple is at 6 per £1, Selfridges is 12 per £1, Harrods is 16 per £1, Argos is 6 per £1.

You need to order by 1st November to receive these rates.

Gatwick Airport rail closure over Christmas and New Year

This has been kept pretty low profile by everyone concerned, but there will be no rail service between London and Gatwick Airport between 24th December and 4th January.  This applies to both Gatwick Express and regular trains.

Full details can be found here.  Anyone wanted to travel by rail will need to go to East Grinstead and then take a bus.

I’m sure with apple its just the purchase of gift cards that are excluded rather than what the other poster has mentioned about the M&S purchases he made.

    Top Tip
Travellers, re-create the joy of First Class long-haul flying for free by pushing a chair into the under-stairs cupboard and sitting in it for 24 hours with the vacuum cleaner switched on for an authentic background sound whilst watching old TV programs on a 1980’s LCD portable. Persuade your wife to serve you very small re-heated meals in a Tupperware box in an off-hand manner at odd hours of the night, and emerge stiff, dehydrated, constipated and shattered at your ‘destination’ one day later.

Heh heh, interesting article though http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/luxurytravel/11965748/How-I-paid-300-for-a-60000-round-the-world-first-class-flight.html
