50% off Las Vegas hotels with IHG Rewards Club points – 24 hours to 5pm Tuesday

Between 5pm on Monday 23rd and 5pm on Tuesday 24th, IHG Rewards Club is offering its two luxury Las Vegas properties – The Venetian and The Palazzo – for a 50% discount on points.

Instead of 50,000 points per night, you can book them today for just 25,000 points.

Full details can be found here.

This deal is valid for stays in December, January, February and March bar a few black-out dates listed on the site.  If you will be in Las Vegas during this period, it may be a deal worth taking.

Remember that IHG Rewards Club nights are fully cancellable and refundable so you have nothing to lose if a better deal turns up nearer the time.

Both of these hotels are technically “InterContinental Alliance Resorts”.  Your status benefits may vary from those received at normal InterContinental hotels.

I tend to value IHG points at £5 ($7.50) per 1,000.  Take a look at the cash rates before you book – if the hotel is charging $185 or more including tax (add 12% to the headline price online to factor in tax) then using points is a decent deal.

As usual in Las Vegas, rates are substantially higher at weekends and you shouldn’t have trouble breaking the $185 level at these two properties.  The smallest room at The Palazzo is actually a 720 square foot suite!

As is also usual in Las Vegas, there is a compulsory ‘resort fee’.  You need to pay this whether you book for cash or points.  At The Palazzo it is $30 plus tax per night and includes “Access for two to the fitness facility within the Canyon Ranch SpaClub, in-suite internet access (WiFi or Ethernet), boarding pass printing, unlimited local and toll-free calls, daily newspaper, two complimentary coffee or tea beverages at Café Presse per day, and one two-for-one drink coupon for well drinks, domestic beer or wine at any casino bar excluding The Bourbon Room (must be 21 or older to redeem drink coupon).”

You can book via links on the special promo webpage.

With the black out dates it looks like as long as your stay doesn’t start on a black out the 25,000 points per night is valid for the whole stay e.g. Feb 29th is a black out date, if you stay Feb 29th – Mar 1st it is 50,000 points for the night, if you stay Feb 28th – Mar 1st it is 25,000 points for each night.

I would question this as the prices in Vegas are always much lower than most other City properties of the same level (which cost same amount of points) . So to me it looks like we would be paying the normal price , could be worth if combining with 100% bonus on point purchase ..

  • Kris says:

Dunno if it’s worth using points for these properties. Stayed at the Venetian a few years ago & was about $100 US a night all in. (The Venetian is all suites as well) There’s lots of competition in Vegas, so unless you’re going for the next big fight, I find there is always a deal to be had.

OT – there seems to be quite a good sale on for IHG in Europe. 50% off flexible rates – no doubt Rob will be covering it.

    • Rob says:

Booking site isn’t working! I actually wrote the bulk of the piece but the site is screwed up. When they fix it, I will run it!

      • Brian says:

It was working for me last night…Prices comparable with the recent flash sale in London and very decent prices elsewhere.

    • Jason says:

Brian have you got details thanks jason

      • Rob says:

Link is here, 50% off IHG hotels in UK Europe, weekends only, 2 night min stay.

        Requires a MasterCard in theory

It IS now working (no idea what the problem was last night, the Winter Sale text would not appear in the rate box) so I will run it tomorrow.

I am with IHG on Friday so I may get some more insight into future promotions.

For vegas its still not that great of a deal…. but I did get Dec 31st for 50,000 points which was priced at $700 average so I was very happy with that

  • Simmo says:

I’ve had resort fees waived and upgrades with ambassador status

    • Roger says:

Me too, but this cannot be relied upon.

The offer is ever-so-slightly improved. Our so-called ‘resort’ fee at the Palazzo included ONE small coffee PER STAY, in our case 6 nights, so 2 per day is better.

In the end, it’s not a resort, just another bl**dy casino hotel.

  • leo says:

Can’t you combine this with the 100% bonus when buying IHG points, so that you buy points-nights for 25% of RRP for Vegas hotels?

  • Alan says:

I assume Spire ambassador gets you very little or nothing as these as they are not true Intercontinentals?

    • Scott says:

In April this year we had a room upgrade and late check-out as Platinum Ambassador (before Spire was created) on a stay that mixed paid and discounted reward nights (these 25k points nights from a previous similar promo). There was also a free water and fruit in room which is part of the Ambassador amenities.

Although we did have a few issues with the late check-out as they called us up at 1pm asking why we hadn’t checked out, when I said it was because we had a late check-out they said ‘we aren’t honouring those today’, I politely pointed out that I had confirmed it at check-in (which I had) and that is was a guaranteed benefit. The person on the phone said that we could stay until 4pm (I had no plans to leave anyway as we weren’t flying until later that day) only for someone to turn up at the door asking why we still there which necessitated a re-run of the conversation. Needless to say we checked out at 4pm and I sent them some feedback when we got home. They ended up refunding the ‘Resort Fees’ as compensation.
