Here is the latest edition of our regular feature which summarises offers that are ending soon.

It pulls together the different deals mentioned on our Top Avios Points Earning Offers, Top Hotel Bonus Points Offers and Top UK Credit Card Offers pages.

Miles and points offers which are about to close

This is a relatively modest list because I am planning an ‘end of year’ round up on 27th December of all the deals closing at the end of the year.

The key one for this weekend is ‘Shop Small’.  Until Sunday, American Express will subsidise your Christmas shopping to the tune of £5 on every £10 purchase as long as you spend in shops taking part in ‘Shop Small’.  See the article linked below for details.

Deals closing soon

Also don’t forget to use your golden circle points from their excellent promotion in 2013! They have to be used by 31 December ; however they can be turned into f&b credit which is valid for 6 months at a rate of 1000points to 100Usd

Yes using our tonight (x2) at the Ting Lounge and looking forward to the SE Asian tasting menu 🙂

Danny – Would be interested in hearing more 😀

        • Danny says:

We decided on the Ting Lounge rather than the main restaurant for a less ‘formal’ experience. It was already almost full when we arrived. We were given a very good window table, and it was a clear and nice evening, so we had fabulous views. We had the £22 SE Asian Tasting Menu (we looked at the menus on the website before we went) with two cocktails and a bottle of wine. The food all came together in a nicely presented tray; initially we thought the portions were a bit small but surprisingly it was quite filling. The food was very well done – deep fried marinated chicken with Asian herbs and spices; wok-charred rice noodles with seafood, pak choi and smooth egg gravy; chicken and dried sole infused broth; Tapioca sago pudding with palm sugar syrup and coconut cream. My only criticism was that the chicken pieces were a bit salty but my partner said it was fine. Service was quick, attentive but not intrusive.
Our 2 vouchers gave us £126 credit, and with service, they were enough to cover the evening out. All in all, a very nice, pleasant and free evening out 🙂

I’m confused! So can I convert my points into a voucher of some sort and use that at Ting after 31 December (to 30 June 2016?) without deciding when and where now? I thought they had to be used by 31 December. Also does anyone know how far ahead you can book? The online booking tells me that the end of June (next time I will be in the UK) is beyond the booking window.

      • Danny says:

Yes to your first question and I booked my table back in early September.

      • TimS says:

You have to redeem for a f&b voucher before 31/12 but that voucher has a 6 month expiry and doesn’t require a reservation to use (though one is advisable).

Reservations don’t have to be made at the time of ordering the voucher. I cant remember the booking window but I think it is only 2 or 3 months ahead.

      • Louie says:

Well that’s good news then, I thought I was going to have to exchange the points for airline miles as there was no availability for Ting at all, day or night, over Christmas or New Year when I tried to book. Thank you to you both.

  • Nick M says:

Congratulations to the Shell winners! Maybe ir would have been worth the hassle after all!!

    • Mrs_fussy says:

Re the shell avois, I paid twice via the app but was never asked to put any avois details – am I missing a trick ?

      • Oleg says:

If I recall the avios/ba exec club account number is entered in your shell online account. can’t remember if you can do it through the app but you can definitely enter it online in the settings somewhere where you specify the payout from shell points to be avios.

  • Tilly71 says:

Can anyone advise from personal experience how long after the annual anniversary date of the gold rewards amex card does the bonus 7500 avios points post to the account. I want to switch to the ba amex card but only have just over three weeks from my anniversary until the 9000 bonus offer finishes in Feb 16.

    • harry says:

Last time for me it was about 3 weeks

    • Rob says:

I believe it takes about a month, so you end up paying 1 month of fee if you plan to cancel.

    • TimS says:

Is there a reason why you have to wait until the gold points post before applying for the ba amex?

Why don’t you want to hold both at the same time?

      • Simon says:

That is what I was thinking, I would have though if you’ve just cancelled an AMEX card you would be less likely to be accepted for a new one.

  • Tilly71 says:

I don’t mind paying a months worth, just want to bag the 9000 avios bonus so lets hope it hits the account in 4 weeks.
