Qatar Airways has kicked off another amazing round of business class deals under the heading of ‘Qatar Travel Festival’.

This is a genuinely impressive package:

Very, very cheap business class fares from various European departure points

You can book for travel until 15th December 2016

Qatar Travel Festival

… all of which earn Avios and British Airways tier points

… or, if you credit to Qatar Airways, will earn triple QMiles

… and you can win a prize as well in a free draw for all bookers

You have five days left to book – these deals end on 17th January.

Full details can be found here.

The best fares will not be found from the UK

Here are a few of the more jaw dropping prices.  These deals are all for business class travel via Doha.

Oslo to Cape Town – NOK 11,895 (£914)

Oslo to Bangkok – NOK 10,045 (£772)

Oslo to Maldives – NOK 11,795 (£907)

Oslo to Melbourne / Sydney – NOK 18,395 (£1,414)

Oslo to Singapore – NOK 10,895 (£837)

Copenhagen to Bali – DKK 13,795 (£1,380)

Copenhagen to Bangkok – DKK 8,945 (£895)

Copenhagen to Dubai – DKK 8,045 (£804)

Copenhagen to Hong Kong – DKK 10,695 (£1,070)

Copenhagen to Sydney – DKK 15,495 (£1,550)

Amsterdam to Bangkok – €1,160 (£866)

Amsterdam to Cape Town – €1,380 (£1,030)

Amsterdam to Dubai – €1,110 (£828)

Amsterdam to Phuket – €1,220 (£910)

Amsterdam to Zanzibar – €1,165 (£870)

These routes would all – apart from Dubai – earn 560 tier points return (140 + 140 + 140 + 140) due to the change of plane in Doha.

As ever with Qatar, you should keep an eye on the aircraft.  The most modern seats are on the Boeing 787, Airbus A350 and Airbus A380 fleet.  The A330 and Boeing 777 aircraft are now all fully flat, however.  A couple may even find the older style seating on these aircraft better as there are pairs of seat together.  The newer planes have a herringbone layout where passengers faces away from each other.

My review of the 787 business class seat is here.  The 777 business seat review is here.  The food and drink is the same high quality whichever aircraft you use.

Can anyone answer a question for me regarding travelling with an infant? I’m trying to book the Companion business class fare from London to Melbourne. For 2 adults, it lists as £5K, but once I add the infant, the promotion is removed and I’m billed the full £3.6K per adult and the additional 10% for the infant. Is this just a website pricing error or the way the promotion works, i.e. not possible to get the companion deal when adding an infant?

    • Clive says:

Mark is this on Go to Gate? If it is I had the same problem yesterday when adding my Daughter as a child 0-17. Ended up adding her as an adult to achieve the low pricing. When you go through the booking process it does not ask for age so she gets added as a Ms.

      • Mark says:

It’s on the Qatar site. I want to book 2 adults + 1 infant total. Not sure booking as 3 adults would solve the problem as I’m trying to retain the 2 for 1 adult companion fare.

        • Ironbark says:

I had this problem last year, spoke to C S and they said the companion offer wasn’t valid with an infant. Try ringing them, you might speak to someone with a different answer.

  • Jules says:

Can anyone confirm that these fares need a 6 or 7 night stay? I can’t see it specified anywhere or in the fare rules, but can’t seem to generate them with anything shorter.

  • zsalya says:

Are you sure that ALL of their 777’s are now fully flat?
That was not the case in March.

    • Rob says:

No, I was told that but I have not seen it officially in writing.

    • Harsha says:

All of their 777s are equipped with fully flat seats. It is their A330s which have been going through a refurbishment to have flat seats installed. Most are now complete.

Qatar are notorious for aircraft swaps, so best to book on the basis of the schedule that works best for you, as opposed to the aircraft you’ll be hoping to fly. Helps to manage expectations!

  • Sasha says:

Great deal, thanks for sharing Rob. Booked OSL-BKK through GoToGate for £606 pp.

  • Kathy says:

Wow. Has there ever been a cheaper business class fare to Sydney? Even factoring in flights to Oslo and a couple of hotel nights there. It makes me wonder if it’s worthwhile spending all year saving Avios, getting the Lloyds credit card, spending £7k for the upgrade voucher, and then trying to find availability LHR-SYD in club sometime (realistically) in 2018!

    • Jonty says:

OSL-ADL with QR was £1350 in May-June, but those fares expired on 10th Jan

    • Rob says:

Qatar can’t keep this up indefinitely, that’s the thing ….

      • AndyR says:

But as you often mention, how else will they fill all these J seats from places like OSL, CPH etc?

  • ET says:

I have been trying to check on BA’s avios flight calculator to see how many avios I would earn for the Oslo to HKG route but it keeps showing up as error? Does anyone know would I still earn the tier points and avios? (Still new to this!)

    Thanks in advance!

    • Clive says:

You need to split into segments as QR do not fly direct to HKG

      OSL – DOH
      DOH – HKG

    • neil says:

You need to put in each leg seperately. e.g OSL-DOH, then DOH-HKG

    • AmandaB says:

Yes you will earn Avios & Tier points. You must enter your BAEC number in the frequent flyer section.

  • AmandaB says:

Last year I locked in a 2-4-1 Club booking to KL (bound for Bali) for Sept 16. I Was waiting for a offer just like this. Have canx and re-booked with Qatar to Bali from Paris for just €2926 for 2 pax. Only
£1250 more than I was paying in tax. And it will secure my Silver BAEC for 2017/8. Very happy this morning ✈️ Shame not to experience the B787 but having flown Qatar previously, their business class is streets ahead of BA.

  • Jeremy says:

Thanks for highlighting this offer. Just booked 3 x Oslo to Bangkok 28,407 NOK
