The latest batch of IHG Rewards Club (the Holiday Inn, HI Express, Crowne Plaza, InterContinental etc group) PointBreaks redemptions will be open for booking this afternoon.  It is usually about 2pm.

I usually preview these redemptions a couple of days before they become bookable but this time the list appeared too late.  This is not a preview article – they are bookable TODAY!

These rooms are a fantastic deal.

All of the 170 hotels below will be available for just 5,000 IHG Rewards Club points per night from this afternoon, saving up 25,000 points per night in some cases.

PointBreaks availability is very limited so book ASAP if you are interested, as soon as bookings open up this afternoon. Bookings are refundable as with a standard reward reservation so there is nothing to lose.  IHG works on US time so I would not expect the offer to be available until mid-afternoon today in the UK.

You can book via the IHG PointBreaks page here or via the standard booking page here.  If the PointBreaks page has not yet been updated, it does not necessarily mean that the special deals below will not already be bookable – do a search on the hotel you want to check.

You will be able to book these hotels for dates up to 30th April.

Under the new PointBreaks rule, you allowed a maximum of two bookings per individual hotel. Each booking can be for as many nights as you want.

Remember that if you attempt to amend your booking later by dropping a night or two the whole booking will reprice at the full rate.

It is a rather eclectic list this time with no InterContinental properties.  The Crowne Plaza in Vilnius is back and there is the usual scattering of UK hotels.  The Dusseldorf hotel may also be worth a look.

If you are heading to New York, consider the Holiday Inn Staten Island.  This appears to be a new hotel which has a free shuttle bus to the Staten Island ferry into New York City.

    It went live at 12:01 pm EST. I got my booking in. Crowne Plaza in Kitchener-Waterloo Ontario, Canada. I fun way to spend a couple of days with the kids over the March Break. Indoor swimming pool, fitness room, play room, arcade and mini-bowling alley in the basement. In case your wondering, this city is the corporate headquarters for Blackberry. Since that company has downsized and fallen on hard times, there’s a lot fewer business travellers in the KW area now. This hotel has been a Pointsbreak hotel twice in the last 6 months.

    Finally a PointBreaks that worked out for me. Had two airport nights booked in and out of Houston TX on points already. Managed to book via promotion and cancel original booking. Result: Same rooms on same nights. 20k points added back to my account for 10 mins work rebooking.

    My wife and I have each received an email offering up to 75% extra IHG points with a purchase but you need to buy 60,000 to get that.

    Managed to sort this eventually… If you want 2 rooms of the same type for the same nights then the system won’t let you as bookings are seen as duplicates. I made the two bookings for different room types then via Live Chat an agent was able to correct without affecting the points… Cheap Ryanair flights booked and an Easter break secured for next to nothing… 🙂

    Great timing for me. I am planning a trip to Japan for March and was already looking at the Crowne Plaza in Okayama for a night en route. Got it for 5,000. Will be our first stay in an IHG hotel for years.

      Not sure if you’re looking for pointers, but if you’re going to Okayama I’d recommend a visit to Naoshima Island, better known as “Art Island” as it has a number of art museums and installations, and is a good day trip from Okayama.

    Snapped up 4 nights at HI Staten Island as soon as they were released. Sat down this evening to start planning flights etc and found some articles / reviews on the web about the hotel being used by NYC as temp accommodation for homeless families.

    People need to live somewhere and I commend IHG on their CSR however, given the choice, I won’t be spending my points at this hotel. Promptly cancelled and decided to spend the weekend in Belfast instead. It’s not NYC but at least I know what I’m getting!
