Bits: extra BA Las Vegas flights, new BA credit card … in Kuwait, Iberia wine deal

News in brief:

British Airways adds extra Las Vegas flights

British Airways is adding three extra flights per week to its Las Vegas schedule from the start of the Winter timetable in late September.

The flights will depart Heathrow using a Boeing 747 on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 11.50am.

As this is a new service, you should find good Avios availability even if the existing seven flights per week were already out of redemption seats.

At the same time, two weekly flights to Houston are being cancelled.   The afternoon service on Tuesday and Wednesday has been chopped, although that still leaves 12 Houston flights per week.  These were Boeing 787 services so it will be interesting to see where the aircraft reappears.

British Airways launches new credit card – in Kuwait

The European credit card market may have become unprofitable following the cap on interchange fees, but that hasn’t stopped British Airways looking for new partners elsewhere.

On 8th May, three co-brand BA credit cards will be launched in Kuwait.  The issuer is Commercial Bank of Kuwait and they will operate as a MasterCard.

There will be a 25,000 Avios sign-up bonus running until 31st July on the World card with smaller bonuses on the Platinum and Prepaid versions.

400 Avios with Iberia wine deal

Finally, Iberia‘s UK wine partner, Vinoseleccion, is offering six bottles of rioja at half price for just £40.  You will also receive 400 Avios with your purchase, dropped into an Iberia Plus account.

HfP readers who have bought from Vinoseleccion in the past have given me good feedback on the wine so it may be worth a look.

    Hi Raffles,

do you know until when the promotion for the Rioja wines run to?

    Best,
    Jay

  • Jay says:

A quick googling shows that there are many offers of this wine at same or better prices.

    • Genghis says:

And after mentioning it on HfP the other day, I did some research on the wine and it has some mixed reviews.

      • harry says:

The wine is OK but not worth more than c. £6/ bottle – ie Vinoseleccion’s price after Avios.

Great for activating an IB a/c, no other particular benefits.

  • ana says:

I have an account with vinoseleccion (I buy the cava from them which is great value) but I was unable to get the points credited to my account. Their customer service told me that was only for customer based in Spain and there is nowhere to put your account number. How have people managed to get their points?

    • harry says:

The points post fine, though late.

      • ana says:

Where did you put your account number? I couldn’t find anywhere

        • harry says:

It’s on page 2 of the order process ie Personal Information.
          ‘Iberia Card IB’
Plus go through Plustore for more points

  • Simmo says:

Viva Las Vegas! – i take it these will be from T3 also?

  • Steve says:

I’ve just looked for redemption in October and they are still showing the same, hardly any resemption seats.
Either they have quickly gone or they haven’t been loaded.
