News in brief:

2,400 Avios with £60 LEGO spend

Tesco Direct is running a ‘short but sweet’ offer on LEGO.

Until Wednesday night, you will receive 1,000 Clubcard points (worth 2,400 Avios or 2,500 Virgin Flying Club) when you spend £60 on the plastic stuff.

The home page for the deal on Tesco Direct is here.

Special Etihad economy deal to Hong Kong

Etihad is running a special promotional code on Hong Kong flights at the moment.  Using code JUNE30 you can fly from Heathrow to Hong Kong for just £344.  This is exceptional value for such a long trip and is £25 cheaper than the current Cathay Pacific sale prices – albeit that flight is direct and earns Avios.

I’m not sure of the exact travel dates but I was able to find dates in June at this price.

Iberia A330 350

15% off Iberia flights from the UK – today only

Iberia has been running a special discount for its newsletter subscribers this week which I forgot to mention over the weekend.

It is still valid today, however, and you can fly until the end of the year (July and August excluded).

The code ‘INTERNET’ used on iberia.com will get you 15% off economy or business class flights departing from the UK.

It is valid only on Iberia and Air Nostrum.  No stopover are allowed.

  • Alanc says:

Just checked EDI and it’s £337. The cost breakdown show’s the discount as £96.

  • Trickster says:

Prices for the Lego, however, have increased significantly compared to other retailers. There are reports on HotUKDeals of people having items sat in their baskets waiting for boost to start, increase overnight by £20-30, model depending of course.

  • Tilly71 says:

Prices increased in a few hours yesterday morning when the offer started by 25%.

    • Sideshow Bob says:

Yup, every Lego item I looked at was cheaper at either Argos, Amazon or (even) John Lewis. Don’t fall for the boost hype – you are paying for the avios.

      • Sussex Bantam says:

Actually John Lewis was the cheapest place for all the Lego I bought at Christmas. Tesco prices are now uncompetitive even with the bonus clubcard points.

        • harry says:

You can try & game it, ie buy what might look expensive items & hang onto your receipt, get the points. If Tesco reduce the prices again in the next 30 days, phone & get them to refund you the difference – they readily do this. If they don’t reduce prices, return your items for a full refund (and sometimes keep the points on top).

          • James67 says:

For many of the more popular lego sets we would probably end up returning them because if past experience is anything to go by they often go out of stock. Cannot comment this time as I have not looked but last time there was definitely a few deals to be had where MrT was significantly cheaper on some star wars sets than their main competitors. The problem this time around is that the offer coincides with boost, for which it seens prices have been hiked.

  • DS says:

“It is valid only on Iberia and Air Nostrum. ” on BA flights also, but not only BA flights
has to be IB segments as well.

  • USATB says:

Several Lego items are also available at a lower price in my local Tesco Extra – I bought a couple of sets at the weekend examples. £18 down to £10 and £9 down to £4.85 and they were still at the lower prices today.

Definitely not the best deal via Tesco Direct.

I sometimes refer to the buy button on this link to do a quick trawl of Lego deals across a few sites, it doesn’t cover Tesco however still useful for Lego fans versus Avios fans. http://brickset.com/buy/vendor-amazon/order-percentdiscount/country-uk

  • CaptAviator says:

    Hi,
Can anyone advise if the 15% with Iberia can be used on flights to Bangkok? Also if anyone has any advise of cheap oneworld fares to Bangkok in August would appreciate it 🙂

    • Rob says:

Lots of bargains to BKK. Use ITA Matrix (search for my guide) and look for ex- Europe departure points. Business should be under £1k and Eco a lot less. Cathay has HKG for £369 and you could add an AirAsia leg for peanuts.

      • The_Real_A says:

BA pricing up for BKK economy around £470 fom LHR (summer/spring) but can bring this down by £100 using part pay with Avios. Avoids any messing with connections each way.

  • TimS says:

    I use this company: http://www.autoaidbreakdown.co.uk/

Wife & I are both covered on both cars for £42.35 a year in total, including onward travel for up to 6 people & home breakdown cover.

    • Alan says:

Yep, I found them mentioned on MSE and been happy when I had to make a claim with how it was handled.

  • InsideFlyer Tom says:

£344 becomes £315! Use promo code JUNE40 (i.e. rather than JUNE30) and you’ll get 40% off. As a result, I found Etihad flights to Hong Kong in June for a quite remarkable £315.
