Etihad launches UK sale from £1,179

Etihad is running a short sale which carries on until 24th July.

If you can’t find the dates you want in the ‘Avios 25% discount’ promotion (see my other article today) then this is a decent alternative.  You may also want to consider whether paying cash to fly to Abu Dhabi at these prices is a better deal than Avios, even with 25% off.

Economy and Business deals are available.  The pick of the Business Class deals is Abu Dhabi, which is available for £1,179 return from London. 

This is an OUTSTANDING deal if you can get it to book onto the A380 services which feature the Etihad Business Class Studio product which I reviewed here.  It is, I believe, the best business class product on the market at the moment.  You can book for dates until 31st May 2017.

You can also fly from Edinburgh and Manchester for an extra £100 albeit not on an A380.  Apart from Abu Dhabi, the fares are ‘good but not great’.  Typical prices include Bangkok for £1526, Tokyo for £2013 and Shanghai for £1860.

You can credit Etihad flights to Etihad Guest (and top up with American Express Membership Rewards points or via Etihad’s own UK credit card).  Alternatively, you could credit to American Airlines or to airberlin and then use the miles to redeem for a British Airways flight.

If you follow HfP on Facebook (click here to ‘like’ us) you will know that you only see a small percentage of our 21 weekly articles in your feed.  Facebook is not an efficient way to follow Head for Points if you want to see all of our content.  Make a daily visit to the website instead.

Following recent algorithm changes, Facebook is now prioritising status updates from your friends ahead of corporate content.  This means that you will see even fewer HfP articles in your feed.

There is an easy way of helping yourself and other readers out.  If you see a Head for Points article in your Facebook feed, please click ‘like’.  The more people who like an article, the more likely it is that Facebook will show it in the feed of other people who follow our page.  The same technique goes for any other site you follow on Facebook – we need your ‘likes’ to keep our position in your feed.  Thanks.

    Qatar also has a bit of a sale on too. Just booked LHR – DXB over xmas for £1032 pp in business.

    Facebook for business is becoming less and less appealing. Not so sure I can be too bothered any longer feeding FB’s coffers with my posts, even though we have one of the highest numbers of followers in our sector.

      Certainly don’t pay them – I don’t, except on very rare occasions such as a generous competition which I want to push.

      Advertising costs on FB have also jumped sharply, although I admit that HFP targets a very narrow market which is easily saturated.

    Ever thought about setting up a Snapchat account also?
    Recently started ‘following’ The Points Guy and Bart Lapers and their pictures and videos are starting to make me really jealous! (I can’t understand how they travel pretty much every day!)

      Simple answer – no! We have talked about video content if Anika came to work for me full-time, as she has acting and directing experience, but that is not on the cards short term. She would front any video stuff, not me – I like to focus my ‘face for radio’ on, well, radio plus print.

        Highly recommend downloading the app and following them for a while!
        It’s not all about showing your face! often just a quick snap of a menu, or airplane seat

      Credit card sign-up and referral bonuses in the US are much, much more generous than the UK, so it’s usually much easier to accumulate points/miles for luxury travel over there. Also if booking ex-US the taxes and fees are usually much lower than UK.

      Dear Supercard Customer,

      We’re writing to you know about some exciting changes to the Supercard product.

      The purpose of this notice is to tell you what these changes are and how they will affect you.

      We are required to give you 2 months’ notice of these changes in accordance with our obligations under the existing Supercard Terms and Conditions.

      What are the changes?
      From 21 September 2016, you will automatically be entitled to receive certain travel insurance benefits free of charge with your Supercard MasterCard® under an insurance policy held by and issued to you through Wirecard by Inter Partner Assistance, Dublin a branch of Inter Partner Assistance, Belgium which is regulated by the National Bank of Belgium and is part of the AXA Group.

      This has meant that we have to make the following changes to your Supercard Terms and Conditions:

      1. We have added a new Clause 4 which refers to the travel insurance benefits which you will be entitled to receive as a Supercard MasterCard® cardholder.
      2. We have added a new Annex B which contains full details of the travel insurance benefits you are entitled to receive.

      We attach a copy of the new Supercard Terms and Conditions which incorporates these changes and they will take effect on 21 September 2016.

      Please note that the travel insurance benefits set out in Annex B of the Supercard Terms and Conditions may not be suitable for all of your travel needs and they may be different to the level of cover you would normally purchase. You should ensure you have read the terms very carefully before relying on them or before cancelling any insurance you already hold.

        What do you want for nothing?

        It’s better than nothing. I wouldn’t rely on it though to be honest. AXA aren’t the best at paying out, only £100 for missed connections (my policy fully covered), only £20 hospital benefit etc.

        Happy to hear others’ POV.

        Its a strange one! Of course its free so i’ll take it.
        But I’d rather they tried to get AMEX on side, or reduced fees as a priority.
