News in brief:

Bonus Heathrow Rewards points on offer

Heathrow Rewards has launched two new bonus point offers, one of which is very easy to achieve.

The first bonus is 250 Heathrow Rewards points (=250 Avios or other miles or a £2.50 shopping voucher) for using the ‘Shop & Collect’ service.

Valid only for UK or EU flights, you can make your purchases before you fly and then pick them up at Heathrow on your return.  There is no need to carry your shopping with you on your trip.  Details of that offer are here.  They may be amused when you hand them a Toblerone to store for a few days but the rules don’t mention any minimum spend!

If you are planning a big spend, you can also use the Heathrow home delivery service.  When you spend over £300, and as long as you are flying inside the UK or EU, your shopping will be delivered FREE to a UK mainland address.  You will receive 250 bonus Heathrow Points for using this service.  More details on that promotion are here.

Thistle deals in London – combines with Amex offer

Thistle Hotels has launched a special half term promotion for stays from 17th to 29th October.  Via this page you will save 25% on your stay AND get free breakfast.  The discount will show automatically.

You can book until 28th October so the offer works well for last minute trips.

If you use promo code FAMILY the discount will also work at Guoman, Amba (Amba Marble Arch reviewed here) and every Hotels as they are all part of the same GLH group.

You may have a ‘£50 cashback on £100 GLH spend’ offer showing on your American Express online account.  It will combine with this offer which could represent a very decent deal.

  • Roger says:

Has anyone been able to book rooms @ Thistle etc. using above offer for a family (2A + 2Ch)?
I tried couple of times seeing this 25% off offer on GLH website last week. But it gives an error stating to call hotel 0871 number to reserve room.
If I drop to 2A + 1Ch then it lets me book. I suppose they want to know the age of children to comply with room size and any fire safety/evacuation rules/laws.

Note also there is a Thistle hotel on Poole, if anyone wants to venture out of London.

    • Brian says:

The Thistle in Poole is not included in the Amex offer, though.

Also, it seems that loyalty club members get free breakfast on any rate, not just for this offer.

  • Brian says:

    I’ve often had that.

  • 1nfrequent says:

I’ve had a confirmed Accor payment sitting in my account since August. It does seem slower than normal.

    • Genghis says:

One of mine is Accor too.
Thanks – just wanted to know that it was relatively normal.

      • Andy says:

I think it might be fairly random, I had a stay from the Pullman in Cologne switch from confirmed to payable a couple of days after the stay.

        • TGLoyalty says:

I disagree had a Gift card payout take a month recently to process.

They seemed to think the answer was to tell me it will be sorted soon every few days and refuse to reverse the payout. Instead they were blaming the fact they had paid a gift card provider already, like that was my problem, my contract is with them not their Gift Card provider! As soon as I reminded them of this it seemed to be sorted quickly rather than just wait a bit longer excuses

  • 1nfrequent says:

OT but there are no longer any Tesco Clubcard points on gift card spend. They don’t count towards qualifying spend. Typical as my locals tesco just got a load of Amazon vouchers in.

  • Rob says:

This often happens with Amex deals due to incorrect coding of hotels in their system. Customer services will add it on without a problem.

  • Frenske says:

Oh great … I guess that means flight to Oslo are not included.

  • rick says:

OT- Can I transfer HR points to my wife? If so can I do it online?

  • Liz says:

I have several small transactions confirmed and are long past their estimated times for paying out although had a couple go to payable today. SIgned up for the Tesco card the other day and £66 tracked correctly by the next morning! Wonder how long that will take to payout!

    • James67 says:

I did a tesco zero fee balance transfer card to avoid settling a £6k balance, I pay off the minimum whilst saving £250/month at 5% to settle it down the line. £31.50 TCH was paid under 2 months from begining to end.
