I’m delighted to announce that, after four years of pestering from readers about organising a get-together, we will be holding the first Head for Points reader Christmas party on Tuesday 6th December.

We will be taking over the Dry Martini bar at the Melia White House hotel.  The White House hotel is an attractive 1930’s building situated just a few minutes walk from Warren Street, Regents Park and Great Portland Street tube stations.

This will be a great opportunity for you to have a few pre-Christmas drinks and, more importantly, to meet fellow readers and to share your travel hints and tips.

Melia Hotels International is generously sponsoring the party and underwriting a large percentage of the drinks bill.

There will also be a prize draw on the night.  One guest will win a very attractive prize from Melia – more details coming soon – and there will be a number of runner up prizes too.  (Please get in touch if your company would like to donate a prize.)

Because we need to ensure that people who ask for tickets turn up, we are charging £15 for tickets.  However, your £15 ticket covers unlimited house wine and beer between 6pm and 8pm.  Soft drinks will also be available.  We are not making a penny from this and indeed Melia Hotels International is footing the bulk of the cost.  After 8pm, the bar will remain open for cash payments for anyone who wants to stay longer.

Tickets will go on sale at 9am on Friday morning – we will publish full details in another article.  We honestly have no idea how popular the event will be but I hope that as many of you as possible can come along to meet Anika and myself and to talk miles, points, credit cards and travel with other readers.  You might even win a prize.

Normally I’m a bit like Niles’s wife Maris from Fraser and am never seen.

However the thought of meeting other fans of this strange hobby, especially the civilised and interesting readers of HeadforPoints, is just too tempting. It helps that I am already booked to be near Gt Portland St tube that evening. I’ll be the one in the corner with a Coke.

O/T but thought I would spread the word! My star alliance silver status came through after 8 weeks! Literally the next day (21st of November) my wife and I were flying from Gutuatmela – Lima with Avianca (5 hour flight with a change over). We were upgraded at the gate to business class due to the status! I think it might be time to change teams. The plane was a A330 with 2-2-2 formation up front! Cheers Golden Circle & Amex
