Swissport strike called off – but BA strike still on

The planned industrial action by Swissport, who undertake most of the check-in and baggage handling at UK airports, has been called off.

UK airports will therefore be operating normally on 23rd and 24th December.

The British Airways strike is still scheduled for 25th and 26th December.  Your options are outlined in this article if you are flying short haul from Heathrow on those days.

OT: Looks like I’m going to fall about 15k points short of retaining spire elite from IHG, after my December ihg cc credit card spend hits the account on Dec 22nd.
So, im guessing I should transfer some vs miles to retain spire?? If only for the 25k amenity bonus??

I understand that BA are now planning to fly all flights on those days via their contingency plan. I do see they are now selling BA flights to Belfast on Boxing Day. They weren’t last Saturday.

    • Rob says:

All destinations or all flights? Unless they are forcing other crew to work on Christmas Day at short notice (which would go down well …..) I don’t see how that can be done. BA won’t even known until the day who is showing up.

      • Frankie says:

The Independent reported that BA said all flights. But yes, that would indeed seem unachievable given the circumstances.

They are offering all other staff (inc. head office) double pay according to a FA yesterday.

        Advice to travel agents is

“British Airways is planning to operate all flights across the strike period.

All flights to/from London Gatwick (LGW) and all flights operated by BA CityFlyer to/from London City (LCY) are not affected.

OT: BLACKCIRCLES currently offer 3 clubcard points per £ spend in Michelin tyres.
In my case saved me 1000+ points on tyres I was going to buy anyway and price in my case was good.
