I wrote a long piece yesterday about the changes to Hilton Honors (now missing the second capital ‘H’ in Honors!).  Today I want to focus on the new Hilton Spring promotion – ‘2K Every Day’ – which has just opened for registration.

To give Hilton credit, it is very straightforward with minimal small print:

You will earn 2,000 bonus Hilton Honors points per night for every night you stay between 1st February and 30th April.

The small print can be summed up as follows:

You need to register in advance via the Hilton website

Both cash and reward nights will earn the 2,000 bonus points, as long as your reward night has an incidental charge added to the bill which triggers base Hilton points

If your stay is not a qualifying stay for base points (eg because you booked via Expedia or another third party) you won’t get the 2,000 bonus points either

I tend to value Hilton Honors points at 0.33p, although this may move up or down when we see full details on the changes to the scheme at the end of February.

You are looking at a bonus of £6.66 per night on that basis.  Given that you will also receive your base points, status bonus etc it could work out nicely.

There is no minimum stay requirement.  Importantly, all Hilton Family properties (Hilton, Hampton, Curio, Waldorf-Astoria, Conrad etc) are taking part – there is no list of non-participating hotels.

You can earn the bonus on two rooms per night, as long as both rooms are booked in your name and the bills are merged together (this is important) so that you only pay one bill.

This is a decent offer and you should make sure you register here if you have any Hilton stays coming up over the next three months.   What your Hilton points will be worth after the end of the month is something we will discuss in future Head for Points articles.

I have booked 5 nights with reward points, 5th was free. Will I get these points if there is some bill to settle at the end of the stay?

    • Anon says:

Yes, I’m in a similar position, 12 night reward stay coming up.

Dinner, room service or couple of drinks charged to the room should cover it.

Sure Rob will confirm this. 🙂

      • Genghis says:

Overpriced kit Kat from the mini bar?

        • Rob says:

Yes, charge something to your bill and you will get the points (except at brands which do not earn on incidental spend eg Home2Suites).

          • Save East Coast Rewards says:

I did a recent reward stay (Hampton) last weekend and charged a few drinks to my room, I didn’t get any points posting for this, the stay has posted and shows the points deducted but not any earned. Do you complete the missing points form for this (or will they just dismiss at as they see the stay has posted?) and how long does it usually take them to process this?

          • Save East Coast Rewards says:

As noted by a comment further down it appears Hampton doesn’t earn any points for room spend.

  • Tom says:

Cheeky question; I don’t suppose I’ll receive these bonus points if I have a room charge on my HH Barclaycard free night?

  • zark says:

I tried registering for this yesterday , but kept on getting errors. Chatted with Hilton on-line and they had similiar problems, but told me they had registered me. I checked under ‘my offers’ section to see if was there, but it was not ( and still is not today), but they told me that they were experiencing some IT difficulties and that I was definitely registered.

  • Craig Strickland says:

I registered both my wife and I, no confirmation email and it doesn’t appear under my offers. What could possibly go wrong! I’ve taken screenshots and have 5 nights at various Hiltons over the next couple of weeks.

    • Alan says:

My Offers is pretty broken – despite earning points for app bookings, etc. it never showed up in that bit of the website, so I wouldn’t rely on that. I’m sure a screenshot showing confirmation of registration would suffice but doubt you’ll have any issues.

  • Simon says:

Once again, booking via an agent to get a far better rate means losing out on an offer….. Annoying

    • Simon says:

This is so hard to actually do. The room and package need to be totally identical. So Hilton get round this by offering very slightly different packages. EG The travel agent rate is Half Board and includes a $300 room credit per stay. As Hilton only offer Half Board with no credit, they will not match it for a BPG deal. And if you ask the travel agent to just quote a BB or HB rate, the price shoots up. Bar a bog standard one night basic room stay, be amazed if anyone has managed to use the BPG.

    • Andrew (@andrewseftel) says:

In my experience, hotels will usually match a rate if you contact them directly.

      • Simon says:

I agree. But matching a rate I’ve done the donkey work to find seems pointless.. When I tried, they just said they could match it as it would affect the relationships and agreements they have with third party suppliers contracts.

  • Andrew (@andrewseftel) says:

With this bonus and a fifth night free, that’s a net 2k points per night in a category 1 property. Not quite cheap enough to burn points on an empty bed for status, but stunning value nonetheless. Probably cheaper than renting in Newport!

  • barnaby100 says:

It is a poor value offer if you stay in more expensive properties but good if you are in cheap ones. I typically spend £240 a night and have so far done 18 nights this year in Hiltons. Previous offers have been more exciting for me.

  • Mike says:

    Mainland China is excluded.

Also no points for extras at Hamptons

    • Save East Coast Rewards says:

Arrgh! That explains why I got no extra points for my Hampton spend!
