  FYI, I flew FCO-DOH last week on an A330 and it was a very old configuration, similar to that of QR’s A340-600. Bloody awful, hope ghis helps

    I flew DOH CMB on a A340-600 and it was absolutely fine for a five hr flight. if you think it is bad, have a peekaboo passed the curtain into the Y cabin, and you will find the J seat to be ABSOLUTELY fine……..

    Krabi about the best value this time around. Agree, too short notice. Don’t think they will fill the planes as much as they think they will this time round. Scandis love their summers in scandi…
    Reckon an Autumn sale worth waiting for, would be looking at paying c900 Max ex EU to Asia in these sales. So the waiting begins…..
    A330 ok for a day flight, but not overnight. QR getting away with using them on day/evening ex EU legs as they know folks ie. Scandis need to get to Doha somehow.

  Norwegian are a good option for positioning flights. Checked baggage is about £15 extra but has seat selection. We used the No. 1 Lounge at Gatwick and then the Grain Store for an onboard snack, with our Priority Pass.

  Used the Clarion at CPH last week for an overnight stop. Booked this when it was a Hilton. We were given a voucher for breakfast, upgraded to a room on one of the higher floors and water / robes were provided – so they honoured my HH Diamond status. Quite happy with the hotel and connected to the terminal.

  No pre-departure champagne ex-CPH with QR and not sure whether the BRICS amenity kit is an improvement over the Armani one. It seems to be a whole lot of case but with little substance. The a la carte menu has gone from the Al Mourjan lounge, since we last visited in October. The buffet options were pretty poor. The lounge was very quiet but we still had a 20 minute wait for the showers. The attendant was very ‘dedicated’ and gave me a 5 minute tour of the shower room… However, the experience still knocks the socks off BA.

    Norwegian can be unreliable for times so make sure you did what you did and go the night before to make sure you don’t miss your main flight.

      Having left my briefcase – containing passport, iPad, wallet, cash, credit cards etc. – on a Southern Rail service at Gatwick, I was very thankful for a 50 minute delay with Norwegian. Having bolted up to Victoria to collect my belongings, I was just passing through security about the time my flight was scheduled to depart. Serendipity?

    We got pre departure champagne exCPH a few months ago.

    Agree food at the Al Mourjan is pretty rubbishm. Better to eat onboard.

    20 mins wait ain’t too bad. I’ve waited over an hour. All that space and they didnt put enough showers in.

    Not that keen on Al Mourjan in general. Will always try to book as short transit as poss from now on.

  Seen arn to dxb for £894 for ages right through until October but I’m waiting on a better price.

  On the subject of Amex MR post quickly the same can’t be said of pro rata refunds. Yesterday was 3 weeks since I cancelled and still no refund. After being told give it another 3-5 days crap I’ve opted for a transfer credit to my BA Amex as it “makes it easier”. I bet….. word of warning people Amex are being very dodgy with the refunds. The other option yesterday of course was setting up a new refund as the other somehow didn’t work but I was told realistically be 2 weeks at least before it hits my bank.

      I fell into asking for the spurious extra unwanted (3rd card) supp trap when upgrading to Plat – but just fixed it with a 5 min call

      they don’t make that bit very clear during the application process, I’d read it here before as well but was not on my guard enough

          If you already have a supp on the gold and go through the upgrade to plat application, it asks you to enter supp info. But this is “new supp” info. So then the main card holder and 2 x supp plat cards are delivered. It’s a bit confusing and Amex could make it much more clear.

    I’m now due a £412.50 refund… I am just going to partially pay the balance and leave this amount owing. They can worry about offsetting it then. Or am I at risk of not paying off the full balance and getting blackmarked if it goes beyond the balance due date ???

      I don’t fully understand the question. Have you cancelled with the refund gone to your acct?Come the payment due date, you need to have paid the balance on the statement, either through paying by DD, debit card etc or partially (or in full) by a fee pro rata refund.

        We cancelled today. balance due by 7th May is 2600 quid. should I pay that full amount by debit card now or only £2187.50 and hope the refund hits the account before 7th May to reduce the balance to zero?? If I pay the full 2600 on my debit card now, I will be chasing Amex for the refund to be paid to me will I not ?

          Don’t pay anything now. The pro rata refund will hit your account overnight. You can then clear the balance tomorrow by debit card / wait until the DD date and a revised DD amount should go through taking balance to zero.

          From my experience the credit to the account always appears the day after cancellation but I’ve had problems getting actual cash from a credit balance before

          I cancelled 2 SPG cards last month and the pro-rata fee refund was showing online within a few days. An email via Secure Message Centre got the balance transferred other Amex cards as a credit.

  It’s worth to mention that QR flights are not “eligible flights ” so you still need ex. 4 flights with BA or ibieria to get your silver status even if you earned your tier points from QR flights

  Worth mentioning that on the return leg QR will through-check your luggage and issue boarding passes if connecting to another OW flight. If your connecting in Stokholm to a BA flight to London you’ll need to change terminals and I was advised to do this on foot (going through security again) otherwise I’d be left in a transit pen with “no coffee” for hours if I used the air-side terminal shuttle.

    LHR to PER cash ticket is up for sale this morning. Ticket starts just over £1300 which is twice the price of Cathy Pacific on same segment with a change at HKG. The price is expected to hit £900 during sale period. No award ticket is loaded in BA or any one world partners. First flight is from LHR to PER segment leaving London at 13:55 and arriving into Perth next day 13:35. It is 15:45 hrs flight towards east. Plenty of availability on QF site and 787-9 is operated on this segment. Award ticket is expected to be usual 50000 avios with couple of hundred pounds from London and few ten pounds from Perth.
