We review Jurys Rewards – is the Jurys Inn reward scheme any good?

The Jurys Rewards scheme received a revamp in 2015 with a new range of reward offers.  We thought it was time to take another look.

The Jurys Inn chain received a boost four years ago when eight ex-Thistle properties joined its ranks.  This took the chain to around 35 properties across the UK.  It reversed a period of shrinkage as a number of the bigger hotels were converted to Hilton, eg the Hilton Garden Inn at Hatton Cross outside Heathrow and the DoubleTree at Chelsea Creek in West London.

What is interesting about the Jurys scheme is that it is heavily focussed on ‘in hotel’ rewards, letting you use your points for little things that will make your stay more enjoyable.  It is potentially a way for business travellers to order items which would otherwise be blocked by their travel policy such as ordering a bottle of wine with dinner.

You earn 10 points for every £1 or €1 spent.

The reward chart offers the following items:

  • Early check-in or late check-out – 100 points
  • Breakfast – 1,000 points per person
  • £10 credit towards your bill – 1,800 points
  • £20 credit towards your bill – 3,600 points
  • Bottle of house wine – 2,000 points
  • 2-course dinner – 2,500 points per person
  • 3-course dinner – 3,000 points per person

High Street shopping vouchers or Jurys Inn vouchers are also available:

  • £20 – 3,600 points
  • £50 – 9,500 points
  • £100 – 18,000 points

For 900 points you can donate £5 to Depaul, a charity helping people affected by homelessness.

You can also redeem for free nights.  Jurys Inn is the only chain I know which lets you redeem for ‘dinner, bed and breakfast’ packages if you want.  Rates start from 5,900 points for ‘room only’ at their cheapest hotels to 16,900 points for ‘dinner, bed and breakfast’ at their most expensive. Room only at Hilton Garden Inn and DoubleTrees are 14,900 points.

You are earning a little over 5% back which is not a bad return.  Note that, as with most chains, you only earn points for rooms booked directly with the company.  In terms of free nights, you should receive a free night at their cheapest hotels for every 5-6 nights you buy.

Tier benefits

Jurys has three different tiers.  You join on Floor 1,  Floor 2 requires 5-20 nights and Floor 3 requires 20+ nights in a year.

Floor 1 receive free wi-fi so it is worth signing up just to get this.  Floor 2 and Floor 3 is more interesting – you are upgraded to a ‘superior room package’ which gets you early check-in, late check-out, free mineral water, biscuits, a newspaper, and 10% off your lunch or dinner spend.  You also get a free Costa voucher and, at Floor 3, a voucher for a free drink.

This sounds like a very reasonable package as long as it is delivered consistently by the hotels, given that you only need five nights to reach Floor 2.

Neither of us has stayed in a Jurys Inn for a long time, so if you have any feedback on Jurys Rewards please post it below.

I have found the Jurys Rewards team to be very responsive to requests. I have always valued the guaranteed late check out at a cheap cost of 100 points. Recognition has always been forthcoming, and overall, I have found the Jurys Inn chain to be so much more accommodating than the likes of IHG and Hilton!

Those tier criteria don’t make sense. It must be up to 5 nights for Floor 1, so effectively just by joining?

  • Andy S says:

Yes looking at the website FAQs, you must start on floor 1 straight away, then at 5 nights you get to 2 and at 20 reach three. It wasn’t very clear in the main article.

Jury’s have a couple of properties near to some of our satellite offices and I’ve found the delivery of the scheme to be pretty consistent in the four or five properties I’ve stayed at this year.

They have invested heavily in the breakfast offering over the last 18 months and the quality is significantly better than it was.

The restaurant menu is also consistent across all hotels and it’s a set price which is good.

The front desk staff are encouraged to ask if the visit is a special occasion and will issue free drinks vouchers etc on birthdays/anniversaries etc.

In the bar the supervisors also have the authority to go the extra mile and comp drinks so it’s sometimes worthwhile to get chatty with the staff in the bar.

I stayed in the Jurys Inn by the station in Brighton 2 weeks ago – didn’t know about the loyalty scheme. Doh!!! It was good value and very pleasant indeed. I’d recommend it. We got a free drink at the bar just for checking in.

I use Jurys Inn regularly, mainly in Dublin. I’m on Floor 3 and so far the scheme has worked every time fine. As someone already mentioned, they have invested in breakfast and seem to change the breakfast concept quite often to see what works. I have been satisfied with them and in Dublin, it is located very conveniently. Spending points is easy on their website. And if you stay in JI, then you should join anyway for the free wifi and it’s not like you have other choices for loyalty programmes with them?

  • Jon says:

Jurys Inn do an easy status match to the main chains so you can go straight in at Floor 3 if you’ve got a decent status at Accor or IHG for example.
