Thank you to everyone who came to the Head for Points Christmas party at the Dry Martini bar at the Melia White House hotel on Tuesday night.

It was another great event and definitely needs to be repeated soon. Apologies to everyone who tried to get a ticket but didn’t get lucky. We will look into a bigger venue, more nights and/or a different ticketing system for the next event. Promise.

We do want to share some of the great pictures Jamie took on the night (big thank you) and also take this opportunity to thank Qatar Airways for sponsoring the event.

The Qatar Airways marketing team – see below – was out in force and I know they were very impressed by how many of our readers had already flown with them and how knowledgeable they were about the Qatar Airways product and service.

I think this is my favourite picture of the evening ….

We had some great conversations ….

and it was really nice to meet so many of you ….

and …

and ….

The bar staff did a great job:

and there was never a long waiting time:

In addition to complimentary wine, beer and soft drinks we decided to also serve prosecco this year.

Again we forgot to video Rob’s speech …..

A big thank you to all the companies who generously offered raffle prizes! And congratulations to the 18 winners.

The main prize was:

  • Qatar Airways: 1 Business Class return ticket from the UK to almost any Qatar Airways destination

Here is the winner, Lee, with the Qatar Airways team:

And thank you to the other companies who generously donated our other prizes:

Also a big thank you to Qatar Airways, Charles Tyrwhitt and Conde Nast Traveller for providing goodie bag items.

Some readers who missed out on a ticket came later at 8pm when the bar reopened to the public, and there were still some readers in the bar when we left just before midnight – six hours after the party started.

Had a great night – Think my gift bag may have been a little bit light though. As I had nothing from Qatar (Unless that was just the bag?) or Conde Nest (Not even a leaflet)

Not complaining of course, After all I would still have gone without the goody bag or even the free drinks.

    • Rob says:

      Chocolate, tie, magazine

We only had 150 magazines though, so a few bags went short. There were some chocs left in the (literally) 3 bags still there at midnight so yours may have been swiped!

      • David says:

Perhaps a competition to distribute the last three bags, unless they have gone already?

        • Rob says:

They had been ransacked and only contained chocolate, which we gave to the Qatar team!

  • RK says:

Looks great and a fun night, I tried getting a ticket but they went within seconds

A bigger venue and more tickets sounds likes a good suggestion for next year

Also the informal summer drinks sounds good

Thanks for a most memorable evening. I tried to muscle in (apologies!) and meet as many people as possible….numerous conversations, but the majority I spoke to seemed to be readers only as apposed to contributors.

n picture #2, is the gentleman giving the Qatar Marketing team lady a BA CW trip report that’s making her laugh so much? “I nearly tripped when stepping over the legs of the person in the seat next to me…”

  • Nick Burch says:

Thanks for a great evening! It was a fun mix of people, everyone very friendly, and meant you could be sharing your tips one minute, then learning something new the next. Some very interesting chats with folks from Qatar and Avios too 🙂

  • Cate says:

Looks like it was a great evening! Will try and get myself and MrCate tickets for next year if he promises not to ‘borrow’ the A380 model 😛

It was great to meet Rob, Anika and some of the regular contributors: Dean, Polly, Mark, Benji, Rich, David. Sorry but I am more of a lurker than a poster here. I made it into one of Anika’s pictures, (was featured this am, but now taken down)
