As a bit of a Star Wars geek I’m very excited about today’s competition in association with ANA. We have cunningly timed this to link in with the release of “The Last Jedi” this weekend!

One lucky winner will win three ANA Star Wars model planes. These are rare and not easily available for public sale outside Japan. They would make an ideal Christmas gift for any airline or science fiction fan.

About ANA

ANA (All Nippon Airways) is the largest airline in Japan and one of only ten 5-star airlines. It flies daily from London Heathrow Terminal 2 to Tokyo Haneda, Tokyo’s most central airport. This is more convenient than the British Airways base at Tokyo Narita (though BA does have one flight a day to Haneda, too). Long term Head for Points readers will remember that I reviewed ANA’s Business Class product here and here when I travelled down to Japan over Easter. It is a great option for the long flight to Tokyo.

ANA is a member of Star Alliance. This means that you can credit ANA flights to ANA’s own Mileage Club, Lufthansa Miles & More, United MileagePlus, Singapore Airlines Krisflyer or whichever other Star Alliance airline you prefer.

You can also credit ANA flights to Virgin Flying Club at an attractive rate. You can also redeem Virgin Flying Club miles for ANA flights as we wrote about in this article.

ANA and Star Wars

ANA has four different Star Wars jets – and unfortunately none of them are currently flying the London – Tokyo Haneda route. However, the R2-D2 ANA Jet can be found on the Narita – Dusseldorf and Haneda – Munich route if you don’t mind travelling via Germany.

ANA’s London team generously offered us three ANA Star Wars model planes for a competition. We are giving away all three aircraft as a set to one winner.

    I was fortunate enough (Read: I scheduled it for that reason) to fly on the R2D2 787 from Munich to Haneda. Lots of R2D2 theming on board and some free bits and bobs. As a fellow SW geek it was amazing!

    I spotted one of the Star Wars planes at Haneda during my Sake Fare trip to Japan a few weeks back. They look super cool!

    OT but regarding the BA reward flights for 50% fewer Avios

    Are these ever offered on Club World and not just World Traveller ?

    50% off CW might be fine.

    Any other periodic benefits like this ?

      Only in the depths of a recession does BA do this. Things are too cheerful at the moment.

      Remember that BA and Avios are treated as separate companies. If they do a 50% off deal, they only get half of the usual money from Avios and so are ‘selling’ the seats very cheaply. In desperate times this is better than letting cabins go out half empty but at the moment it isn’t necessary.

        On the subject of seat pricing, this Xmas has been way out of kilter with regard to pricing on LHR-BKK on any major airline.

        I can’t believe business class is full when economy seats are selling at record lows (£350/400 over Xmas) but we have seen fares not fall below about £3/4000 per seat for weeks and weeks now.

        We couldn’t book our usual months in advance so we are now stuck and I’m not paying £20k for 3 seats so Xmas in the UK is becoming a worrying prospect 🙂
