  • Roger says:

OT- but may be an important date to transfer SPG miles to Airline by tomorrow?
Alternately having enough miles to beg Marriott Travel Package, just in case there are any sweeping changes announced tomorrow?

general view is against such change being announced tomorrow. But lets see what happens.

  • shd says:

Yes, come on Rob, give us a sneak peak on the SPG/Marriott changes!

  • Anna says:

When is the next BA sale likely to be? I’ve used a “spare” 2 4 1 to book CE flights to Rome for OH and son, planning to book a flight and hotel deal for me to go with them but probably won’t get round to doing it by tomorrow!

    • Anna says:

It’s ok, I’ve found a reasonable flight/hotel package with a suite which will sleep the 3 of us without having to trawl through too many options!

      • Anna says:

Also worth noting – the first week of April 2019, which is the first week of my son’s Easter school holidays, is counted as off-peak for avios redemptions, which we have taken rare advantage of!

        • Dave says:

Yep, I was able to bag First Class flights to San Jose (San Fran) on the 787-9 for that week, which is what I wanted. The next trick is to find a return!

  • Down the Back says:

Rob, how do you send a private message to you ?

    Cheers

OT- Did someone mentioned being able to use Amex for VW finance (Car PCP) for online payments? This is for skoda but I am told finance is by VWFS.

    • TGLoyalty says:

Not sure but in case it helps anyone else you can make monthly BMW PCP payments via phone with an AMEX

    • AndyGWP says:

      Visa or Mastercard… (no AMEX)

I’ve used Amex for upfront deposit at dealers before though

  • Delbert says:

My churning date is tomorrow and want to apply for the Amex Preferred Rewards Gold Card but would like to upgrade from my Amex Nectar card. How do I do that online?

Also, by upgrading does that automatically cancel the Nectar card? Which is what I would like to do.

    • Genghis says:

You don’t “upgrade” from Nectar to Amex Gold but simply apply for a new card and hold the two concurrently. You could refer from your Nectar?

      • Delbert says:

Thanks, Genghis. I believe you’re saying that I self-refer from the Nectar which should be a few thousand MR bonus points. I want to cancel the Nectar anyway to return for the barren periods.

        • TGLoyalty says:

You’ll get a few Nectar (2k?) but no MR for the self referral.

Also make sure your nectar card has 0 nectar to transfer before you cancel or you lose them

        • Peter K says:

You get 5k Nectar points on your Nectar amex for referring yourself for the PR Gold card. You will need to keep the card until the nectar points are transferred across at the next statement period if you want to keep these.
You gain an extra 2k MR points for having been referred, on top of the usual 20k MR points, when you spend £2000 in 3 months on the PRG card.
One further point. Amex currently don’t seem to mind self-referral but who knows when this may change?

        • James says:

You might be better seeing if Rob can refer you as you’d get extra Amex MR points (rather than Nectar points) but he may have already referred his maximum quota.
Or pretty much anyone with an Amex Platinum or Gold would be happy to refer you I’d expect as they will get some extra MR too.

I’d certainly be happy to if I knew the email address to send the referral to 🙂
