BOOK NOW: 170 IHG Rewards Club PointBreaks hotels from just 5,000 points

IHG Rewards Club (the Holiday Inn, HI Express, Crowne Plaza, InterContinental etc group) has published the new list of PointBreaks redemptions.

These hotels can be booked for stays until 31st July.

These hotels are now bookable via ihg.com.  Popular hotels will use up their allocation of reduced price rooms quickly, so book now if you are interested.  As with all IHG Rewards Club reward nights, you can cancel without penalty at any time and get your points back.

InterContinental Kiev

PointBreaks has changed …..

Historically all PointBreaks rooms cost a flat 5,000 IHG Rewards Club points per night.

This was a great deal, except for the teeny tiny fact that the selection of hotels had been getting progressively worse for the last couple of years.  If you were looking for a good deal in a major tourist centre then you were going to be disappointed – although it was handy if you wanted a weekend break in Doncaster.  This has now changed.

The 170 hotels on the list below are priced at between 5,000 and 15,000 IHG Rewards Club points per night.  In general the quality of hotels included has gone up, although it also true to say that this list is weaker than the last one.

PointBreaks availability is very limited so book ASAP if you are interested.

There are three London hotels on the list, albeit marginal ones.  I reviewed Holiday Inn Brent Cross here.  The real shocker, however, is the lack of European properties.  Apart from Indigo Dusseldorf, which was on the preview list, there isn’t much else of note.  InterContinental Muscat remains the most interesting one especially as British Airways has had some attractive fares recently, and in May the weather should be manageable.

If you are off to South Africa, the InterContinental Sandton Towers in Johannesburg – where Anika was recently, a review will appear next week – is also on the list.

You can book via the IHG PointBreaks page here or via the standard booking page here.

You will be able to book these hotels for dates up to 31st July.

If you are short of points, you can currently buy IHG points with a bonus of up to 80% via this link.

You allowed a maximum of two bookings per individual hotel. Each booking can be for as many nights as you want.

Remember that if you attempt to amend your booking later by dropping a night or two the whole booking may reprice at the full rate.

Thanks Rob. We’ve booked the HIX at Greenwich to pick up a LCY flight. I rather fancied the
IC Al Jubail but MrCate can’t get anymore time off. I know people are moaning about the raise in points needed but there is now a better selection.

    • e14 says:

If you are going to LCY then the Royal Docks one is easier ?

      • Cate ⛱️ says:

I’d agree but MrCate want’s to try out the Emirates cable car and walk up the 02 so plumped for this one.

Booked a night at the HI Kadiköy Istanbul so at least I’ve been able to make use of a points break at last. Wish there were a few more Euro hotels though, but the UK list is OK.

Booked the Stoke HIX for a cheap Alton Towers break:

  • Louie says:

Thanks for this Rob, I’d forgotten that PointBreak was coming around this time. Booked four nights in Perth and one in Dusseldorf on exactly the dates we wanted. Not the best bargains in the world but as the ability to cancel is important for family reasons right now, I’m happy with that. Can always cancel later if I decide to go for Accelerate this quarter.

Is it really the case that IHG has NO hotels at all in Sweden?

    • Sandgrounder says:

None in Sweden, none in Norway, and only one in Denmark (I think).

  • Roger I* says:

Currently in Sandton, South Africa, I was looking for rooms at the IC at the regular 30,000 rate for later this week. (We were there in March with our free credit card night, 2nd night free voucher + points redemption.) Fully booked for part of our needed dates, so we booked elsewhere.

Fully booked means fully booked, also for PB. Better PB. availability later.

The IC is one of our ‘go to’ hotels in Johannesburg. Looking forward to Anika’s review.

  • Roger I* says:

should have said; I was already looking for rooms at the regular 30,000 rate’ then the PB 15,000 rate turned up.’

  • BrianN says:

    Hi slightly OT.

The IHG Creation free night voucher, how long is this valid for after issue?

    Thanks

  • Stevie G says:

I was in the Indigo Dusseldorf Hotel last week. Nice quiet hotel in a nice quiet neighbourhood with good transport links. Worth the point break points.
