  OT: IHG Accelerate. My offer worked really well as I only needed two nights at different (thanks to the reader that tipped me off to them needing to be different) HIE to get 4 of the 5 offers and the bonus. Having done the first night the dashboard updated, one completed, and two at 50% awaiting the second night. But the pay with IHG credit card didn’t get completed, does that take longer to register or did it get missed. The stay was about 2 weeks ago now.

    That’s normal. It should push through in about 6 weeks normally although in the past I have chased the AMB team and it has then posted (saying you can see on the IHG account that I have stayed at a IHG hotel and paid with the card at a IHG hotel).

    The IHG Credit card points used to come through shortly after spending, yes. But this time it works differently – or it did for me.
    I got the points as an extra to my IHG credit card points, following the issue of my bill towards the end of May. So I saw 1500 points on the actual Accelerate page, but 1678 hotel points added to my IHG account (1500 for accelerate and 178 for the actual hotel spend).
    I assume that this means that these 1500 points now count as qualifying, if that is of any relevance to you, but difficult to say with the new account display which does not tell you which points are qualifying and which are not.

      My recent stays in Alice Springs showed hotel stay pts as qualifying along with the pts package I bought. it also ticked off a couple of accelerated targets which posted together but they were not added as qualifying pts – just the stay pts.

  Say I buy a reward economy flight in the avios sale and then change date later on down the line (after the end of the sale), would I also have to pay the additional avios that I saved originally? I assume the answer is yes?

  I’m about to cancel one of these from the earlier round of this promo and buy another one this tie.
  But I am fine if they want to keep £35 of my taxes from the promo booking I am cancelling when they refund me the 50% avios plus the rest of the ‘taxes’. The £35 was the cost of keeping an option on the flight for me. I work mainly as a contractor so I can never predict if I’m going to be able to take a flight or not. I factor in the loss of the £35 upfront when I take this kind of offer. I view it as just what I paid to have the option. I

  I’ll do it again this time round to have the flight available in the future. As £35 is still not too far north of 25% of the value of the avios I would save by using the offered discount on the promotion.
  It;s still close to 80% likely I have to do this flight sometime in next 7 months or so, and if I have to cancel it again then my reason for cancelling it would be worth considerably more than the cost of cancelling it. So all in all it’s worth a bet and I’ll pay my “option fee” of £35 upfront again.

  I never used to analyse things like this but HfP has corrupted me 🙂

  Hi all. I wonder if someone could help me.
  I have plat from a gold upgrade bapp and spg cards. My wife has just plat from gold upgrade.

  I want to use the referal for 18k. What additional cards can i apply for to trigger the 18k and also not to get to greedy. I’m thinking bapp spg and necter for my wife and necter for me. The spg is already a referal from my wife.

  One other thing which I’m sure has been answered but haven’t seen it. Do we know after August if spg to marriot will still be 1 to 3 and amex 2 to 1 to spg. Thanks in advance

    SPG Amex becomes 3 per £1 from August

    Not clear what the MR transfer rate will be.
