TODAY ONLY: Book LEVEL flights from Gatwick to Vienna at 2p return

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

We wrote the other day about IAG’s launch of LEVEL as a low-cost short-haul carrier based out of Vienna.  With flights due to launch on 17th July, they are desperate to shift seats.

For TODAY ONLY, LEVEL is selling 50,000 seats at 1 Eurocent each.  Availability is very generous.

For HFP readers, the only route of interest is likely to be London Gatwick to Vienna.  2 Eurocents return gets you a flight plus cabin baggage.

Other routes are Vienna to Palma, Barcelona, Malaga, Venice, Olbia, Ibiza, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Milan Malpensa, Dubrovnik, Larnaca, Alicante, Valencia and Bilbao.

Gatwick flights start on 17th July.  Other routes have later start dates.

The fare is easily available as you can see above, from July to October.

Because LEVEL does not have its own booking site yet, you need to book at the Vueling website here.  Search for a random set of dates and, once you have that on screen, you will see a ‘View whole month’ option.

The Vueling website is here – note that it is running slowly …..

Hey, IAG, would you like some cloud computing to handle peak loads?

Presumably this will be causing problems for Vueling customers doing e.g. online checkin…

    Amateurs.

+100. These IT sagas really are shaking my faith in the whole airline. If their IT department runs like this, then what about other more safety critical aspects? Has the cost cutting mentality of Walsh and Cruz just gone a step too far? Other budget carriers operating on a wafer thin margin are able to offer stable websites and apps that respond reliably even when having to cope with flash sales, etc.

These guys need to wake up to reputational damage that is being done to the IAG brand. I simply won’t bother with Iberia offers in the future after last weekend’s saga, nor flying with Level, knowing the Austria sub is Vueling in disguise, delay and strike prone as they are with clearly absolutely rubbish IT back end. One potentially very regular customer already lost.

      • shd says:

Why would you NOT compare one department with another in any business group?

We know IAG are quite happy to cut back purchasing and maintaining de-icing machines at LHR, they’ve got cost-cutting in their DNA, don’t you know? 😉

      • Paul says:

Most of their IT department got outsourced 3-4 years back to TCS. Outsourced IT department tend to focus on keeping the lights on rather than driving business wide transformation

      • Thomas Howard says:

Spanish IT at its best, BA, TSB, Vueling,…

  • Kathy says:

So, if the website has gone down for everyone attempting to snap these up, does that mean the tickets are just sitting there in the system still, with no-one able to buy them?

  • chris says:

    Server Error in ‘/’ Application.
reminded myself why I avoid vueling 🙁

  • Philip says:

    Ditto.Not a good look.

  • Optimus Prime says:

    Crashed when making the payment.

Now the flights I’d chosen are no longer available 🙁

  • Luca says:

This is a disaster, IT problems galore.

  • JDE says:

    Website not working at all.

I hope their pilots and mechanics are better than their IT team…

  • Sarah says:

Managed to get into site earlier, but couldn’t get beyond putting dates in, now just get the Site under Maintenance message.

On a separate subject, BA First flights to Cape Town are going for £2,000 in early 2019 https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/premium-fare-deals/1918271-ba-lhr-cpt-2025pp-return-2-pax.html

Says it’s part of a promotion, and T&C’s state this, but who knows if BA will pull them

    • Rob says:

      Seen this, will cover tomorrow

    • Graham Law says:

A million thanks Sarah. Booked for 10 days in Jan at £4050 for two.

      • Rob says:

It is substantially cheaper if you book a ‘flight and car’ package on BA Holidays (I got it down to £1822 with 7 days of car rental). Perhaps use the 24 hour cooling off period to cancel?

        • Sarah says:

Do you still get the 24hr cancellation period when you add a car?

          • Rob says:

Not sure, but this offer should stick around for the rest of the period it is meant to be around so no need to panic book. As a BA Holiday you can just pay a deposit anyway.
