Tomorrow, Saturday 14th July, Louis Vuitton is opening a pop-up store in Heathrow Terminal 4.

The chain says:

“The pop-up concept is inspired by the ‘My LV World Tour’ collection that pays homage to Gaston Louis Vuitton’s private collection of destination stickers and symbolises the art of travelling and exploration.

The new space features a selection of men’s and women’s signature leather goods and accessories, inviting Heathrow travellers to discover the world of Louis Vuitton for the first time in Terminal 4.”

  • Richard hickman says:

Thanks Rob for the heads up on this amazing deal! We have booked 4 seats direct with car hire and hotels for a months stay in January, quiet a saving plus an extra £100 off with the BA Holiday sale????

  • Mikeact says:

OT Bits advice please. I have a £13k bill to pay shortly, in respect of new wheels for Mrs T. Obviously, it would be advantageous to earn some Avios at the same time, but the garage are not interested as a heavily discounted purchase. I guess many have been in this situation and I would be interested to learn of any options that are worth considering. Thanks.

    • Jonny says:

Curve card (debit card) linked to an Avios-earning credit card eg Tesco, HSBC etc…?

      • Mikeact says:

Thanks, that was what I was thinking, but has to be Bank Transfer.

        • Rob says:

I would personally – for Section 75 reasons – not be happy with that. Better to offer to pay an extra 1% and use a credit card, mainly for your protection but the miles would offset the cost anyway pretty much.

        • RussellH says:

I am sure that they will take a credit card for a deposit, at least, which will preserve your S75 rights. I have always been asked for a debit card, but tell them that I do not keep that quantity of free cash in a current a/c.

      • Mikeact says:

Thanks one and all. I’m going to give Billhop a go as I could do with a 241 voucher. To start with I need a referral for the Amex Platinum card which seems to offer a 35 k MR option….not sure what my credit limit is likely to be, but still have two old active cards. Assuming I need more credit than that offered, could I pay in, say, £15k and then use that to pay via Billhop?

        • Mark Wheeler says:

There is no limit on a Platinum card and officially you cannot pay more than you owe. I believe that you can do a bank transfer but would not advise being too cheeky.

    • Jonathan says:

Billhop.com may be worth it if it triggers bonus points or an instant 241 voucher.

      https://headforpoints.com/2018/03/26/pay-new-council-tax-bill-amex-billhop/

I think Amex also offers a similar service bank transfer directly, though for businesses.

  • Steve says:

Unsure if I am suffering some Friday morning fug but is it possible to book/search for these flights + hotel via BA Holiday? Availability in March is coming up at those prices however when I attempt to add a hotel, the price rises exponentially on the next screen, despite an initial suggestion that I’ll ‘only’ be paying c£2.5k pp.

    • Rob says:

If you can get direct flights on BA from Cape Town to price as flight only then BA Holidays should do you ‘flight and car’ for less.

Note that the car (or hotel) must be booked for the full length of your trip.

‘Flight and hotel’ will increase the price although, if you need a hotel and don’t mind using BA Holidays, it should be cheaper than booking both elements separately. No points or elite benefits on hotels booked via BA Holidays.

Amazing bargain, I hope they do something similar in coming years, I have big birthday and retirement in 2020! It makes my 2 4 1 trip to New York in F next year look like a bit of a rip off ????.

    • Genghis says:

      Rationale for “rip off”?
Using avios for two, the CPT flight in F would be:
170k avios (using 241 and cost included in my ppa calc) + £592.51 x 2 off peak (which is most of Jan, Feb and Mar)
On avios for me (looking my big Amex spreadsheet, 0.04ppa), this would cost:
      £68 + £1,185.02 = £1,253.02.
Granted, much more work and need a bit of look for availability but a third of the cost.

      • Simon says:

£680 not £68 for the 170k avios ? Though take your point. Even at a 1p valuation, cost is sub £3k using 241.

      • Simon says:

You value Avios at 0.04p ? On cost of procurement taking into account sign ups ?

        • Genghis says:

Granted. You do need to be very lucky.

@Simon Cost. I don’t value at that, obvs.

      • Anna says:

I was joking! I class my NY trip as costing £1149 in BA’s fees plus £195 BAPP fee plus 140,00 avios (F out, CW back at peak time). But if BA start offering 2 x F for under £4k (or less as it’s a shorter flight), it starts to look like less of a bargain.

  • Donal says:

I was able a week or so ago to book the via JNB option using BA Holidays booking ( + car , rather than + hotel ) .. it prices up automatically with

The dates I was booking ( Jan 1-12th) it was possible as the CPT-LHR flight on 12th didn’t have seats available so I had to do it

The initial price quoted is ludicrous but if there is availability via JNB then you hit the ‘Change flights’ option and it will give you the JNB option as £x,xxx cheaper ( in fact I think it was showing as £xx,xxx cheaper !!)

So unless it’s changed you should still be able to to this , you just have to ‘force’ it to look for JNB options using ‘Change Flights’

  • the real harry1 says:

O/T IB 90K – it seems that many of the people getting the inconsistencies points denial email are getting it on the grounds that passport details given to IB (to open the a/c) are not exactly the same as the passport scan they were asked to submit to IB to prove identity.

Because a middle name was missing when they opened the IB a/c.

    Utterly ludicrous.

These people are appealing the point and winning the argument, with 90K points awarded pronto.

My advice is: don’t be a sucker and accept points denial at face value. Challenge it, appeal to all & sundry @ IB mgt and you’ll get the points re-instated.

ID rules in Spain are VERY strict.

      • Rob says:

It’s the only place where I’ve ever had a huge fight with a hotel because I’d made the booking off another persons account and put my name in as 2nd guest (with the main booker not showing).

  • Mikeact says:

Seems that life with my Lloyds Amex/M’card goes on…..just received new terms and conditions….nothing really significant….small tweaks here and there, but nothing major that I can see.

    • Rob says:

Those are not the Avios T&C though.

The Lloyds call centre now calls it the Lloyds British Airways Mastercard which gives you a clue as to what is happening.

  • AlexH says:

OT: Has anyone received a Lloyds Avios Upgrade voucher since the demise of avios.com? I passed my spend threshold about 6 weeks back, but I’ve not received a voucher into my avios.com (which is still active) nor any letter/email saying it’s gone somewhere else. Both Lloyds and Avios customer service just blames the other! Thanks!

    • Anna says:

It normally gets applied in the following statement month after you trigger it (so trigger it in June, it gets applied on July’s statement date), however, they can apply it to your account manually so I would get back onto them and insist you need this doing as you need to use the voucher urgently. This worked for me during the IT glitch.

    • Andrew-a says:

I got one recently after hitting the 7K spend early June.

    • will says:

I got one about 2 weeks ago into my avios.com account.
