  • Mark says:

Does anyone know if we can expect an Accelerate promotion from IHG for the upcoming Q3?

    • Genghis says:

“Q4” prob from 1 Sep announced shortly I reckon

      • Rob says:

There was a gap in August last year IIRC.

        • Alan says:

Typical! August is the only month i have an IHG hotel booked for!

        • Lyn says:

Actually the “Summer” Accelerate included all of August last year. But there was a gap from mid-April to mid-May.

    • Alan says:

Normally only a promo for US residents in August with Accelerate returning in Sep…

  • Gumshoe says:

OT: anyone had their bonus miles for spending on the new Virgin Atlantic credit cards, following the offer last month?

Having fought to be included in the offer in the first place (thanks to Rob for assisting), Virgin Money emailed me a few days before my July statement date informing me I’d ‘nearly’ spent enough to trigger the bonus but not quite – even though I easily had.

So I wasn’t surprised to see no bonus miles on my July statement – I called Virgin Money and they told me they’re posted separately after 3-5 days but someone else was told they’ll post a month in arrears.

This feels like another Iberia cock-up in the making …

    • TGLoyalty says:

Id spend the money and chase all at the end tbh

    • Alan says:

Wouldn’t know. I’m still waiting for my card to turn up! Its taking a ridiculous amuount fo time to get here.

      • Roberto says:

How long are you talking about..

I want my card before the 20th of september and dont want to order it too far in advance , was hoping to apply at the start of september to be sure…

Maybe I should apply for it sooner?

        • Alan says:

I applied on 13th and had my application approved on the 17th. Received an email on 19th saying my card was on its way – that was, apparently, a lie.

Spoke to them over the phone this moring and was told they have had a lot of applciations (Gee, can’t think why) and I should allow 10 to 15 working days for the card to arrive.

        • pablo says:

I also applied on the 13th but haven’t heard anything since.

        • roberto says:

          Thanks both Alan & Pablo

    OT Amex referral

My partner referrred me for a Gold Amex a week ago; on Wednesday I was told that my application had been approved.
Typically, how long before she gets her 9 000 referral points? Ideally she needs to cancel the card today to avoid the £140 fee hitting her card, but she does not have the points yet.
So, second question – when will the £140 fee hit her a/c? I know that she will get most of it refunded, but she objects to the hassle.
Are there any potential problems with me cancelling her card using the ghastly online chat system?

    • Rob says:

She gets the 9k within a couple of days of you being accepted so they should be there now or very soon.

No problem cancelling by online chat.

  • Graham says:

O/T – is the current Hilton credit card withdrawn?

  • AndyR says:

OT – just tried the eligibility checker for the IHG Premium credit card and was rejected :(. I already have the free IHG card so wondering if that could be why? Has anyone had any luck getting that decision overturned after calling them?

    • Alan says:

You can certainly hold both cards – perhaps worth calling them and saying you’d be willing to transfer across some of your credit limit to a new card? Not sure if Creation offer that but MBNA were always happy to do so.

  • Tom Cook says:

    OT and apologies as these will have been answered before;

If I book a Reward flight, but need to cancel more than 24 hours after booking do I lose the cash (i.e. £17.50 per flight)?

Also, do you get a soft landing into bronze from silver with BA if you don’t accrue the 600 tier points that year?

  • James carp says:

OT, is it worth transferring Emirates skyward miles into LHR rewards for the bonus or keep them to upgrade from economy to business class flight?

  • Rob says:

OK, here is a fun rumour.

It seems, under pressure from me and a major newspaper, that Iberia is thinking of rolling back the ‘no transfers to BA’ restriction on the 90,000 Avios promo.

Not guaranteed by a long way but we should know more within 48 hours.

    • the real harry1 says:

      Aha – looking hopeful 🙂

Saves a few quid ie RFS fee in our case.

IB might as well turn it around and end up getting some good PR, that’s what people will remember.

      • New Card says:

Not ideal timing – their offer to refund flights without a charge ends 31 July… perhaps this is why they’re delaying?

        • Paul says:

If anybody has sent passport/ticket info to Iberia for their new IB+ account and not yet had a response, then I’d suggest you do it again before the 31 July deadline. I chased mine and they denied receiving the original message. Once they got it the second time they responded within hours and awarded 90000 avios.

        • Crafty says:

          What’s this offer?
