    Yes but they are responsible for, you if connections are missed..so you could get an unexpected stopover at their expense, until next flight departs…its the missed departure that is a major problem with ex Eu flights. Know this starts in the uk which helps too. Ok, if on a tight schedule you, or with family, you wouldn’t risk this flight, but a student or traveller..absolutely no problem for them.

      They aren’t complaining about a short stopover – they’re saying when you can buy a normal flight for £519 return, it’s not particularly attractive to spend £500 with this promotion and have no idea when you’ll be going.

  On the subject of legacy airlines eliminating the potential of widespread cheap competition, has anyone heard anything about the purchase of Norwegian? That flashed then went quiet . Is there a team of investment bankers beavering away at it?

      Good, I’ve got a positioning flight with them EDI-OSL in Jan and if IAG bought them they’d probably cancel these routes!!

    IAG announced they are selling the stake in Norwegian and walking away.

    M&A markets are mature. IAG probably found out they would have to pay at least x2 more than they thought. They are not going to part ways with that another 1bln in profits.

  It’s a bit like the Eurostar Snap fares, for which you decide morning, afternoon or early evening, pay 29 pounds and get put on a train with available space. No qualifying spend towards Carte Blanche though…

  Good idea if travelling on a budget. But we all know people here are looking for something a bit more comfy. And if you don’t get to decide your own layover and routing, it takes all the fun out of the process ;-D

    You’ll know when you get your ticket. I can’t imagine it would be anything other than the lowest booking classes, probably earning 25% in M&M and 0-25% in other programs

      Would love to know if anyone has details — for crediting on United, I get 100% status except for IORX (LH), NIORX (LX) or AFIORX (OS). Very tempted about the tickets but I’d def pay £100 more if not doing so will guarantee me no status miles…

    And for the benefit of others, I presume you are going to plug that fare class into wheretocredit dot com to assess the best place to credit them?

    Someone somewhere did this offer not so many years back. It might even have been Lufthansa too at that time. I do remember the t’s and c’s for that one said not able to be credited for miles.

  I don’t think it’s such a great deal especially going in economy class.

  A few years ago, I managed to book a return economy ticket on Qatar for £238 to Singapore.

  Well, I didn’t book it, my trusted travel agent did. But if you compare the fact that I was in Qatar on row 10 (if I remember correctly) with a lot of leg room then I think that was a better deal.

  Obviously, you all know better as I’m new to all this as I’ve only been into this hobby for 5 years.

  Just thought I’d give my two cents.

  Does anyone know whether you could end up on the Edelweiss (Swiss) flights out of Zurich ? I’m looking at booking a flight to Cape Town, Swiss don’t fly there but Edelweiss do !
