Get a 20% bonus on hotel and credit card points transfers to Etihad Guest

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

Etihad Guest has launched another of its occasional transfer bonuses.

This is not a bad time to take advantage.  The recent ‘devaluation’ of Etihad Guest actually made business class flights between London and Abu Dhabi cheaper (read more here) – albeit taxes went up – and it is unlikely that we will see further changes for a couple of years.

Details of the transfer bonus are here.

For UK residents, the key transfer partners which will trigger a 20% bonus are:

Le Club AccorHotels

IHG Rewards Club

World of Hyatt

Radisson Rewards

Marriott Rewards

Hilton Honors

Shangri-La Golden Circle

HSBC Premier

It is important to note who is NOT on the list – American Express Membership Rewards.  You will not get a bonus if you transfer from here.  Note that Etihad Guest is no longer a Heathrow Rewards partner.

Transfers must be made by 30th October.  The bonus will be added in a separate transaction within 15 days of the end of the promotion.

You can find out more here. In addition, if you are not already an Etihad Guest member, you can sign up here and receive 500 bonus miles.

How to earn Etihad Guest miles from UK credit cards

How to earn Etihad Guest miles from UK credit cards (April 2024)

Etihad Guest does not have a UK credit card.  However, you can earn Etihad Guest miles by converting Membership Rewards points earned from selected UK American Express cards.

Cards earning Membership Rewards points include:

Membership Rewards points convert at 1:1 into Etihad Guest miles which is an attractive rate.  The cards above all earn 1 Membership Rewards point per £1 spent on your card, which converts to 1 Etihad Guest mile. The Gold card earns double points (2 per £1) on all flights you charge to it.

    Morning all
Going to the Grand Prix in Azerbaijan(Baku) next year.
Can anyone recommend a decent hotel or a package with hotel,flight,F1 tickets, please?
Hilton is already sold out for those days and all the other major chains charge ridiculous money on those dates 26.04-29.04.’19

      Hi,

I’ve been to the GP in Baku and stayed at the Hilton. Most of the teams stay there so they block out all rooms out for website reservations. If you contact the hotel directly, they will likely sell you a room. They have a terrace on the roof which you can book for the race which has unbelievable views of the circuit – Better than any stand ticket anywhere in the circuit. It’s a fabulous place to watch with great food and plenty of quality drinks on offer. Enjoy ????

        Hi Rob
        Many thanks
I have checked Hilton and looks like a fabulous hotel. At 50000 a night and with the 100% bonus points sale finished now I wonder what other sort of transfer from points/miles would be a good deal if they would agree to release a room!Any ideas?
Great that you can watch the from the terrace
        Thanks again

The JW Marriott is amazing, right at the end of the pit lane, amazing exec lounge if you have access (comp bar is 5:30 – 9:30) with the views no need to by any other tickets.

Availability is all gone now for next year but a steal as a Cat.3 @ 17,500 points a night (was even cheaper before the recent merger). The Singapore JW is similar for the F1 but quadruple the price!

Also SPG Moments are team partners with AMG Mercedes, Baku was always one of the quieter races of the sessson there can be some bargain hospitality packages with Mercedes.

You can now buy train tickets on Expedia. Works the same as any train operator/ Trainline (pay by card, you get a code, collect tickets at station with card used to pay and code).

Recently been impressed with Trainline mobile tickets in the app, but happy to go back to paper for a few points!

    • Lumma says:

Is Expedia the same as the train line where you have to pay a booking fee that you wouldn’t when booking direct with the operators?

Of course, if it’s gonna help trigger a 7000 point bonus it’s probably a moot point in this instance

      • Rob says:

Yes, I looked at it when it launched because they wanted us to push it, but it wasn’t a good deal.

  • Volker says:

Just back from Madeira/FNC, and as there was no BA lounge, we used the TAP lounge instead (via LoungeClub/Amex). Well… many HFP readers‘ living rooms will be bigger (and nicer) than this „cupboard“. A fellow BA passenger who had been contemplating buying access changed her mind after asking the receptionist „Is that all???“

I never visited the old lounge in Bordeaux, but surely it couldn‘t have been any worse?

  • Shelly says:

I got 7000 points for a on a £250 spend on my BACC but it must be onlinespend. If you were to buy gift cards it usually is a separate part of the website so may not work.

  • Roger says:

    OT- Amex Travel
Anyone with past Amex Travel upgrade experience.

I have two amex platinum offers to use. Most of the holidays well into next year is sorted but trying to see if it would be possible to upgrade an existing Y booking to J (flying on QR), booked via Amex Travel on their last offer in January this year.

  • Morgan says:

For whatever reason I am no longer getting these offers over the last 6 months. my BA Amex card only has 6 unappealing offers (Prezzo, Prada, Radisson Blu, Mulberry, Matchesfashion, Caffe Nero). Quite frustrating.

    • Morgan says:

Should add that I have heaps more offers on my Amex platinum but they are all just as unappealing.

    • Sarah says:

I have a total of 3 offers on my BA Amex, all less appealing than those you’ve mentioned. No sign of the Selfridges one on my other 2 cards either.

  • Dave Barron says:

My Boots and Debenhams spend must be done online according to T&C so will be interested to learn if others trigger the offer in store?

  • Simon says:

Didn’t get it. But I did have a ‘Spend £30, get £25 back’ for the Financial Times buried further down the list.
