A few days ago, after an unexpected delay, Marriott Rewards launched its ‘daily play’ game ’29 Ways to Stay’.

The good news is that daily play now means daily win.

There are 2 MILLION prizes to be won, although most are just 50 Marriott Rewards points.  There is a huge grand prize where one person wins a 2-night stay at EVERY Marriott brand – that is 29 stays in hotel.

The game launched with confusion. The game implied that you could try to win an instant prize every day.  It turned out, however, that the game was only letting you win once – ever.  All future daily plays got you another entry in the grand draw but no more daily prizes.

Marriott has now changed the rules / fixed their dodgy IT (delete as applicable).  You can now play ’29 Ways to Stay’ each day and you could win a prize each day for another three weeks.

The daily prizes are:

  • 87 prizes of 4-night hotel stays (3 winners per brand, you don’t get to choose the brand you get)
  • 75,000 DAILY prizes of 50 Marriott Rewards points
  • 5,000 DAILY prizes of 500 Marriott Rewards points
  • 2,500 DAILY prizes of 1,000 Marriott Rewards points
  • 500 DAILY prizes of 2,000 Marriott Rewards points
  • 250 DAILY prizes of 3,000 Marriott Rewards points
  • 100 DAILY prizes of 4,000 Marriott Rewards points
  • 75 DAILY prizes of 5,000 Marriott Rewards points
  • 50 DAILY prizes of 10,000 Marriott Rewards points
  • 16 DAILY prizes of 20,000 Marriott Rewards points

Marriott states that it expects you to have a 50/50 chance each day of winning a prize.

The link to play is here.  Good luck.

  • Michael says:

    Sadly, this promotion is Geo-Restricted.

I would be very interested in hearing from Marriott the reason their customers living in the Republic of Ireland are excluded from participating

    • Shoestring says:

What do you call 3 Irish Lumberjacks?

      Tree fellers.

An’ all an’ all an’ all 🙂

    • Doreen says:

Spain also excluded – wonder if it is something to do with lottery laws ? 🙁

      • Nick says:

It could well be. There are some interesting anomalies in the rules for some countries already. Potential winners in Canada must answer correctly a mathematical skill-testing question without aid of mechanical device or otherwise and potential winners in Argentina must answer a cultural question.

      • Marcw says:

Spain is even excluded from MegaBonus. How bizarre!

        • Doreen says:

Not in my case … based in Spain, have already earned 4,000 points in Megabonus. viz. EARNED: 4,000 | GOAL: EARN 2,000 BONUS POINTS ON ALL STAYS* OF TWO OR MORE NIGHTS AND 1,000 BONUS POINTS PER BRAND, STARTING WITH YOUR SECOND BRAND.
Waiting to see if the 1,000 per brand refers to any stay or must be one of 2 nights or more

        • marcw says:

Tool late then. Booked my stays elsewhere. According to MegaBonus T&Cs: “Open to legal residents of the 50 US/DC/PR, AR (excluding MZ, NQ, RN, SA, & TF), CA, CL, CN, CR, DE, DO, FR, IN, JP, KR, MX, NL, PE, UK, ZA who are Marriott Rewards, Starwood Preferred Guest or The Ritz-Carlton “

  • Hilaery R says:

I played today and was informed that an error had occurred ,try again.
When I tried again …you played today came up .
Is this a one off or will it effect other players

    • Genghis says:

Marriott really needs to effect IT improvements

    • Peter K says:

Try this evening. I’ve had this happen before on this comp. One day it worked in the evening when it wouldn’t in the morning, one day it didn’t.

  • Adey says:

I played today, and won 50pts!

    I got the first question wrong – “Where can you find Westin?” “a) 1pm b) 2pm c) 3pm”.

    • Alastair says:

The correct answer is 3pm apparently. Bizarre. I won 500 points this morning, with an email to confirm. I don’t remember getting an email for the 50 points I supposedly won on the first day, so maybe those will never show up due to the initial IT issues.

      • Tom1 says:

I guess the question was supposed to be what time can you check in – not that getting the answers right/wrong seems to impact the prize.

        • Michael Jennings says:

Having got the first “Where can you find Westin?” question wrong, I got a second question which was also “Where can you find Westin?” with answers being (a) North America (b) Europe (c) Australasia and (d) all of the above, or something like that. The correct answer was obviously (d), and I selected it and won 1000 points. So that’s something.

    • Nick says:

I got the same, so assumed, rightly or wrongly, that it was something to do with late check out and picked 3 PM, which was, as Alastair says, correct.

FYI, I’ve won 1 X 500 points and 2 X 50 points so far, the balance free entries, playing each day.

According to the rules the points should post to your account 8-10 weeks after ‘verification’.

    • Graham Walsh says:

I got that wrong too, but won 500 points. Basically just click bait for awareness of their hotels and brands now they’ve merged probably.

  • Lyian says:

O/T. I have a $400 AA voucher. Do you know if I can use on any code share flights in Europe? Ideally from Manchester. Thanks in advance.

    • Jonathan says:

If you mean shorthaul then no. You can only book eg. A MAN-LHR codeshare as part of an international trip.

    • RIccatti says:

      Look up yourself on aa.com.

      • Ian O says:

Thanks I did and struggled to clarify as there are codeshares to Paris etc. Hence the question on here! ????

        • Nick says:

Your voucher is valid on anything AA can ticket itself on 001 paper, it doesn’t have to be entirely AA codes. However the distinction is small – as stated above, AA can’t book intra-Europe flights without a connection attached, so you’ll be looking at travelling westbound.

  • John says:

After 50 points on the first day, I had a string of sweep entries, read the rules which imply only one prize ever, and gave up until seeing this article.

Pleasantly surprised to win 1000 points just now.

  • Mark2 says:

I play every day on each of several family accounts. I always win at least 50 points with occasionally 500 and receive an email every time. Not as good as last years NFL game, but worth a few seconds effprt.

  • Max says:

I assume the answers do not matter 🙂

  • Rob says:

Thanks for the heads up on the Marriot game I’ve given up checking 500 points for me 50 for my wife
