A few days ago, after an unexpected delay, Marriott Rewards launched its ‘daily play’ game ’29 Ways to Stay’.

The good news is that daily play now means daily win.

There are 2 MILLION prizes to be won, although most are just 50 Marriott Rewards points.  There is a huge grand prize where one person wins a 2-night stay at EVERY Marriott brand – that is 29 stays in hotel.

The game launched with confusion. The game implied that you could try to win an instant prize every day.  It turned out, however, that the game was only letting you win once – ever.  All future daily plays got you another entry in the grand draw but no more daily prizes.

Marriott has now changed the rules / fixed their dodgy IT (delete as applicable).  You can now play ’29 Ways to Stay’ each day and you could win a prize each day for another three weeks.

The daily prizes are:

  • 87 prizes of 4-night hotel stays (3 winners per brand, you don’t get to choose the brand you get)
  • 75,000 DAILY prizes of 50 Marriott Rewards points
  • 5,000 DAILY prizes of 500 Marriott Rewards points
  • 2,500 DAILY prizes of 1,000 Marriott Rewards points
  • 500 DAILY prizes of 2,000 Marriott Rewards points
  • 250 DAILY prizes of 3,000 Marriott Rewards points
  • 100 DAILY prizes of 4,000 Marriott Rewards points
  • 75 DAILY prizes of 5,000 Marriott Rewards points
  • 50 DAILY prizes of 10,000 Marriott Rewards points
  • 16 DAILY prizes of 20,000 Marriott Rewards points

Marriott states that it expects you to have a 50/50 chance each day of winning a prize.

The link to play is here.  Good luck.

Any other recommendations for hotels in BCN? All Hilton and IHG sold out for this week coming as I may have to head there Wed/Thurs. Looks like some Marriotts are available.

    • Mike L says:

The hotel Jazz is a great hotel , not far from Las Ramblas. Rooftop pool area is lovely. Breakfast is very nice too – Amex travel got me a free breakfast and a decent rate.

  • Nigel the Pensioner says:

Westin Hotels all seem to have shut down. Today, its just 6 Westin black boxes that refuse to expose anything!!

  • Mike L says:

Uber is becoming a real pain for me. Driver in Barcelona got lost on the way to the cruise port and we had to direct him. He then applied an additional €17 charge to our bill. When I opened the app at Barcelona airport I noticed a message stating I had an unpaid bill from our trip to Miami in April $84. Disregarded it. Messaged Uber and the additional cruise port charge was removed. American Express, as always, was very helpful and removed the $84. Located the payment on my Amex account for the $31 Miami airport trip but again, it appears an extra $84 has been added as an additional fee but for some reason, it wasn’t applied at the time or it’s been a rogue charge / fraud. I’ll definitely give Cabify a go.

Getting an ‘error occurred’ message when signing in?

  • Nigel the Pensioner says:

No just a dead page of balck Westin properties. However, Just opened the Marriott thing in Chrome rather than IE11 after using Chrome to do a top cash back transaction…..and got 500 points!

  • John23 says:

OT: Has anyone yet tested the platinum upgrade link from the new Gold Credit card and if so can they confirm they recieved the bonus points.

    Thanls!

  • Tony says:

I just got 2,000 points although I’m not quite sure who proofed the question “at what time can you find Westin?” (They meant check-in by the way).

Given the price of good Alpine resort hotels, I can also see the Hilton Kitzbuhel being quite a useful route for getting gold status on spend rather than stays.

    • Travel Strong says:

I got a similarly glitchy : “Where can you find Westin? 1pm/2pm/3pm?” In fairness, it made it more entertaining.

      • Rl290 says:

I was certain I could find it at 1pm… but apparently it only materialises at 3pm. Like Harry Potter’s room of requirements…

    • Mike says:

Oh that is what it meant !

  • Mark E says:

On holiday as a family in the Malaga region we found Cabify very good this summer. It had a handy option that Uber could not offer and that was the ability to book a cab with a child seat for about 2 euros extra.

    • Tony says:

Does Cabify allow you to book bigger vehicles? As a family of 5, it’s something that’s useful to know!

      • Mark E says:

I think that I did see something like that as an option, we had no need to try and book it though.
