As we announced on Wednesday, we are pleased to say that we are holding our third Head for Points reader Christmas party on Tuesday 11th December.

We are taking over the The Glasshouse room at the Holiday Inn Camden Lock from 6.30pm to 8.30pm+.  This is situated just a few minutes walk from Camden Town, Camden Road and Chalk Farm tube and National Rail stations.

(EDIT: the first batch of tickets went in under a minute.  Well done to those who got one – hopefully some of you who missed out will be successful tomorrow.  Looking at the click numbers into Eventbrite it seems clear that we could sell out something even bigger.  We will look at this again before the Summer event, especially as large venues are easier to secure in June.  Rob)

The Glasshouse is a very light and airy space which worked well for our Summer party as you can see here:

We now have the first batch of raffle prizes to announce

All attendees will receive one raffle ticket.  It is not possible to buy extra tickets and they are not available to non-attendees.

For clarity, only ticket holders who are in the room when the raffle is drawn at 7.45pm will be eligible to win.

Back to the party details ….

The event runs from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

A full cash bar will be available at standard Camden prices, so £5ish for a beer.

We are still trying to finalise a sponsorship package which would get you your first drink free.  However, you should assume when you buy your ticket that this won’t happen. But it might.

The hotel will keep the bar open beyond 8.30pm if there is demand, and of course you have no shortage of other interesting places to eat and drink afterwards around the market and the wider Camden / Chalk Farm / Primrose Hill area.

How do I get my ticket?

Because we need to ensure that people who ask for tickets turn up, we are charging £10 per ticket.  This price includes VAT and covers our ticketing fees, venue costs and the hotel security fee (we are obliged to hire two security guards!).

We are selling the tickets in two parts:

The first 125 tickets will be sold at noon today (Friday)

The second 125 tickets will be sold at noon tomorrow (Saturday)

We are using Eventbrite again.  Eventbrite has an excellent mobile app, so even if you are not behind a computer at noon you should still be able to purchase.  Set up an account with your credit card data before you head out.

Click here for the tickets released at noon on Saturday

You can buy up to two tickets per person but please don’t be nervous about coming on your own.  Frequent flyers are a friendly bunch and always happy to share details of their recent trips and miles-earning tips.

I apologise in advance if you can’t get a ticket due to demand.  We are hoping to make future events even bigger in order to fit in more readers.

American Express is accepted by Eventbrite 🙂

We look forward to seeing you on the 11th December.

Got one – but it’s phenomenal that they’ve already sold out!
Although last time/year I noticed that a couple appeared after about 10 mins or so (probably as shopping baskets timed out or were abandoned) so keep checking if you missed out…

    • AS says:

      Got one too!

For the unfortunate ones – The timer is 8 minutes so you know when to come back!

  • Vince says:

Wow, was hanging on the button at 12, went from straight to unavailable! Well done those who got one, they must have sold in about a millisecond.

  • johnny_c-l says:

Refreshed three devices at 12.00 and one was lucky! See you there! 🙂

  • Adam says:

Got mine – despite a last minute realization that I had forgotten my wallet. Look forward to seeing you all there.

  • The upset Kevin says:

    All gone at 12:00

  • Jay says:

Wow, that was fast! Tickets just disappeared as adding them to my basket on desktop site. It was still 12pm at the time. C’est la Vie.

  • Nathan Brandon-Bravo says:

2 tickets ordered 🙂 see you there

  • Joe says:

The timer for getting tickets was 8 minutes – so recommend those who didn’t get any try again at 12:08 – there will possibly be a couple coming up then

    • Polly says:

      Not a chance..

    • Julian says:

I got one in my basket at a second or two after midday but I didn’t spot the 8 minutes timer (also those timers have meant nothing when trying to book a final last minute Reward Saver ticket for a flight at avios.com and someone else has beaten me to it due to BA’s rubbish IT failing to lock out the purchase for the stated 20 minutes) and so was terrified I would lose it if I didn’t complete check out as fast as I possibly could.

For once (and unlike my many recent EuroMillions ticket purchases of the last three months to try and retain my childhood family home that the greedy IHT man and my sister are together stealing from me) I found that I finally was successful in a very limited odds online draw………….

      • Polly says:

Very sad that story about your childhood home, Tnx for sharing, fingers crossed for tomorrow, access might be difficult tho..well done on your ticket.

        • Julian says:

Thanks for your kind words about my childhood family home.

The problem is caused by the house’s relayi high value of £1.1 million for a very simple and basically built late 1950s house that has only been very modestly updated and still only has single glazing but is in a very desirable location in Stoke Poges, right next to Stoke Park Golf Club, the place where Odd Job threw his bowler hat and took the head of a statue in the James Bond Goldfinger film and where James Bond was also seen playing golf with Blowfeld, but also only 1.5 miles north of Slough (just as Eton is 1.5 miles south of Slough)

Also had the Harley Street Medics honoured their previous claim to have cured the breast cancer and my mother had lived til 92 or 93 (she was totally competent mentally in every respect) and not 82 then no doubt she would have helped my sister out financially with her current divorce and given the same amount to me and had she lived 7 more years from that point there would have been very little IHT to pay making it much easier for me to hang on to the residence I feel most attached to (even though I own a converted apartment in a former country house in Surrey but it doesn’t have that family home link, given that I have not had any children of my own).

        • Lady London says:

Very sad for you Julian, you have a lot to be angry about. I agree with your later comments about the UK government. But we can’t always plan things. “If only….” are very sad words. I am sure there are many families in similar positions, that have houses built a while back where areas have become much more up-valued. Not much consolation for you though. It’s a cliche that sometimes things are just “meant”, and letting it go and getting your head round things so you can go on, may need the passage of time. Good luck.
