My Lounge now open in Gatwick’s South Terminal as an alternative to the No1 Lounge

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

The brand new ‘My Lounge’ is now open in London Gatwick’s South Terminal, which is the one used by British Airways.

Based on the one in Gatwick North, you should expect ‘urban chic’ bordering on ‘hipster’, if ‘hipster’ is still a ‘thing’.

Annoyingly, I have no idea where ‘My Lounge’ is, except that it is located on the upper level along with all of the other lounges.  Apparently it has the only outside terrace at the airport:

Given that the ‘My Lounge’ in Gatwick North is cheap – I have seen it offered for as little as £12 via promos – I was surprised to see that Gatwick South will cost £30 on the door or £24 booked in advance.  Children are allowed at half price.

This is our review of My Lounge in Gatwick North to get you in the mood.  It is available via Priority Pass (free with Amex Platinum or buy one here) and Lounge Club (two free visits with the free Amex Gold) which should reduce the pressure on the main No1 Lounge.

You can find out more about My Lounge Gatwick South on their website here.  I will be Gatwick South in January and hope to take a look then, assuming there is no official media event.

T&C’s says: “Offer only applies to spend made in GBP on the card to which the offer is saved, including an American Express Card loaded onto a mobile payment wallet.”

Suggests Apple Pay might be included. Amex Pay (via their own app on NFC equipped phones should certainly work, no?)

I’ll test this on my next TfL trip.

  • Lady London says:

If you choose carefully which you book as RFS and which you book, say, on Iberia where RFS is offered, for a lot of routes you would pay the same or even less than RFS cost. Due to APD, except for Inverness and, I believe, Belfast, Newquay, Jersey (and I don’t know the others) this is mainly worth checking on the half of your journey that probably does not originate within the UK

The other party that does not have RFS so you’d be paying the full ‘taxes’ on everything is BA On Business that was covered on HfP yesterday

Very OT: I need to make a redemption using a 241 for a high demand route. I know that I can call 355 days in advance and it’s often the case that people call international call centres to ‘beat the clock’. As I’ll be in Japan during that time i’m not quite sure which call centre would be the right one, any ideas?

    • Rob says:

The Japanese one is meant to be good – otherwise the US one is best.

      • Amo says:

I think that Japanese call centre is closed on weekends, so i’ll try the US one. Am I right in thinking flights are loading and available to call centres at midnight (UK time)?

    • Anna says:

People usually call to add on a return leg, if you’re just booking your outbound leg at this stage you can do it online as soon as the flights are loaded. You just have to remember the time difference for where you are. This worked well for me in August as i was in America and only had to wait until 10.30 pm to book my flights!

    • Anna says:

You can book it online if you’re only getting the outbound legs at this stage.

OT – sorry to bang on about the Groupon/Iberia/avios offer but I’m still not convinced that I’ve successfully redeemed my vouchers. When I click on the link to redeem, I get taken to a page which asks for the coupon code, security code and my Iberia Plus number. Following this I get a very vague message saying that WHEN my voucher has been redeemed the avios will go into my account within 10 days. Surely a confirmation message would say that the voucher HAS BEEN redeemed? I’ve not had any emails confirming the vouchers have been redeemed, despite trying a few times.

Also, I had done bit of research on previous Groupon offers, and found a picture of a previous redemption page used by buyers. This asks for the customer’s email, as well as the other 3 pieces of information. What have other people been getting when redeeming their vouchers?

    • meta says:

Lately they’ve changed forms and started using Google forms. Last time in November (22/11 to be exact), I never got an email saying that it’s redeemed. It just appeared in my Iberia account in about 10 days followed two days later by an email from Groupon asking me to review Avios! They processes manually instead of automated ones, so that’s why I believe there are no confirmation emails.

  • xcalx says:

OT Gold sup failed yesterday as I had the wrong pin so used a different card noticed a message from Amex saying as a one off courtesy we have approved the transaction yet the receipt shows void . Phoned Amex and told I have to start a disputed charge claim.

  • Jon says:

OT: I know some people on here have said that they often don’t get the shop small email if they pay via amex contactless. I just paid with my amex via my phone (google pay), and the email came through instantly. Maybe worth it for those who are worried about all their contactless spend.

    • Mark2 says:

I have had lots of credits for contactless and also for purchases which did not trigger email.

      • Jon says:

Yes- I’ve also had all my credits post too (although I always get emails as well). Just a suggestion for those who may feel more reassured if they get the email first!

  • Oli says:

My Lloyds credit card got used at various online shopping websites and food delivery services over the weekend – it’s the one I use for BA and Marriott, so the data leak is very real indeed. Keep a close eye on your account everyone!!

    • Anna says:

I’ve just had a text from Amex saying they haven’t approved a transaction on an old card. Someone trying to use one I’ve churned maybe?

      • Oli says:

On the positive, Lloyds are sending out a new Avios Amex card – guess they’re still being printed after all!

  • Rufusrea says:

OT Used BP app at weekend set for £31 pound came in at £30.80. Everything worked smoothly. Today with different credit card set for £31 again came in at £29.80 (what a waste) I think next time I’ll go for £35

    • lev441 says:

You can select £40, £50, £60 whatever you like, just stop the pump at £30 and that’s all you’ll be charged for. Simples.

      • Peter K says:

I set it at £35 and stop at £30. Not sure why people go for £31 and risk it when it makes no difference unless they fall asleep while pumping the fuel in so they go to the max allotted.
