The American Express Centurion Lounge in Covent Garden is open – what’s inside?

The American Express Centurion Lounge is back for 2018.  Until 16th December, the pop-up lounge is open at Unit 6, Langley Street, which is about 60 seconds walk from Covent Garden tube station.

Entry is available for all Platinum and Centurion cardholders.  There are free drinks for all – although the champagne had run out by 5pm last night when I arrived – and there is also the odd bit of free food coming round.  Click to enlarge the pictures:

There is also a gift wrapping station and, at least yesterday, an area downstairs where you could get an airline sleep mask monogrammed.

The lounge is open between 11am and 6pm.  Up to two guests are allowed per Platinum or Centurion cardholder.

Thanks to Alan for these photos, which were better than the ones I took.

O/T. Not sure if it’s been mentioned but appears ex-SPG properties are now bookable on Points Advance and merged with the Marriott system. Just booked St Regis NYC for next year. Now to decide which to go with Regis Vs Ritz Calton…

    • Alan says:

Yep, finally! Of course availability I needed for Westin now gone so still having travel package booking issue, corporate promise they’re trying to sort…

    • Young L says:

Yes, booked Tokyo hotel two days ago, was surprised to see this option.

  • Rob mc says:

Is it 2 extra guests as well as cardholder..?

  • Dale says:

Louis Vuitton opens in Heathrow Terminal 4

Really? I know it’s a filler item but of what possible interest is this?

    • Brian says:

This is actually the second time this Louis Vuitton opening has been mentioned in one of the articles, actually, so I can only assume that it’s sponsored in some way. I ptherwise struggle to understand the rationale, too.

      • Brian says:

Although it does fit in with HfP’s clothes theme today…

      • Rob says:

Er, no. The other LV article (which you could have found in 30 seconds via a search) was for the T4 pop-up in the Summer. This is a new permanent store.

They send us their press releases, we run ’em ….

        • Brian says:

I did a quick search and saw that you’d covered the openings in T3 and T5, so full marks for consistency… :)) Surely the fact that a company sends you a press release gives you no obligation to run it, though??

          • Rob says:

No it doesn’t, but we know our audience better than you 🙂

No-one else has this story either because it was a release to the fashion press and not the travel press.

        • Brian says:

‘No-one else has this story either because it was a release to the fashion press and not the travel press.’ Hmmm, I wonder why? I wonder whether that might be because it has quite a bit to do with so-called fashion and not much to do with travel and miles?

    • ChrisC says:

Perhaps of interest to people who fly from T4 and want to buy some LV and couldn’t in the past?

Not every article has to appeal to every single reader you know.

    • Callum says:

Apparently many people on here love throwing away their money in pretentious, overpriced stores.

Though I’m sure there are many things I like to see on here that most others aren’t interested in too.

      • KP says:

And many people on this site like to throw their money on expense flights for the sake of gaining loyalty…..

It is what it is. If people don’t like any of the articles run on this site…they can simply ignore it.

        • James says:

Maybe because you can collect Heathrow Rewards points at Louis Vuitton at LHR?

      • Russ says:

‘Though I’m sure there are many things I like to see on here that most others aren’t interested in too.’

        Like for example? Serious q.

  • BS says:

Do they swipe your platinum card, or do you just have to show it?

  • EvilGazebo says:

OT: Anyone not received their Amazon.es Meliá Card?

Website is suggesting it’s probably lost and only option is a refund which I don’t want because, like a good HFPer, I E already mentally spent the points on a specific redemption 🙄

    • Rhys says:

Rob got his a week or two ago. Surely you can get a replacement sent out?

      • Rob says:

Yes, got mine three days after ordering (although I did pay for the expedited delivery).

    • meta says:

Same here, though I opted for standard delivery. It was still quick and sent via DHL. Ordered Friday, arrived Tuesday. Got a text from DHL with tracking number and regular updates.

    • Louise says:

Mine came via normal delivery and it was with an amazon driver, fully tracked on their website tho

      • EvilGazebo says:

I did normal delivery, it appears to be Amazon Logistics as well but it left a depot in Rugby a week ago never to be seen again…. .

  • Charlie T. says:

A bit O/T but looks like Belmond will be acquired by LVMH, rather than IHG, Accor or any of the other suspects previously suggested…

  • Liz says:

OT: @Shoestring – update on claim for lack of choice of breakfast on our recent Tallinn flight. The stewardess said she had raised a claim on my behalf but I never received any confirmation email so I submitted a claim myself. First reply said sorry but we can’t load enough food because there isn’t enough space in the galley but “hopefully our next trip will be more enjoyable”! So I replied to that email with a bit more vigor and we received 3000 Avios each. They cannot provide a choice for 24 people in CE – so if you are in the back 2 rows of CE it’s take it or leave it – oh and we can’t claim again if it happens again apparently! So we pay extra for a so-called premium, BA will bank your money then provide a “like it or lump it service”!

PS we did actually also receive 1659 Avios each and 40 tier points for what was a reward flight which was an error. This flight was also booked from the LLoyds compensation from last year including free Avios, free upgrade voucher and hundreds of cash compensation. Shouldn’t really complain!

    • Neil says:

Just another valid reason not to fly Club Europe anymore. If BA can’t load 24 meals then they should cut down the size of the cabin. The best bit is that BA believes this is a sustainable business model.

      • Liz says:

We don’t normally do Club Europe as we live up over the border so not worth it but this was a freebie trip. Wish they would fly from more regions though. It was a poor service.

        • Yuff says:

I managed to go one better, they offered us our choice in the penultimate row, then the 4 people behind us were asked their preference, the 4 people behind us chose the same got served and they then told us our choice had run out😡

        • Liz says:

@Yuff – that is even more annoying!

        • Shoestring says:

yep but we all know they serve a bit lopsidedly as the trolley moves down the aisle…no point losing sleep if you miss out on first choice this way – but sure, I’d bang in a compo claim if they really messed up on food

though if you remember I did actually travel CE this year when my wife got upgraded HBO—> CE (& I relieved her of her ticket lol, she doesn’t really drink & likes talking to the kids) – very rubbish food indeed, I must say – sort of soggy & tasteless – & I was in 1A! – though no complaints about the bottomless Champagne with Cognac chasers my new best friend seat companion & I enjoyed over a chinwag for a couple of hours 🙂

    • Shoestring says:

      Good result overall

    • Russ says:

The you can only claim once thing’s a bit sharp. Can you order in advance with BA for next time?

      • Liz says:

No – I asked that – only for long haul. There were 3 choices of food but only 1 left by the time they got to us. I thought the whole response of well maybe next time it will be better and don’t bother claiming again was very rude. Won’t be flying CE any time soon.

      • Lady London says:

My answer would be “Then I’ll only fly once, then”. What a cheek. They should provide a Premium service if they claim they’re offering one.

  • Liz says:

OT Does anyone have an email for claiming missing points for Marriott. Need to claim for 2 separate accounts about 2 different things.

    • Liz says:

      Found it

    • BJ says:

Hi Liz, IIRC you were doing your 3 bridges cruise this week. If so, how did it go? I’ve been thinking about doing that for some time now.

      • Liz says:

Fab – I put some great pics up on my FB page. Was a lovely day. It was our anniversary on Wed. Only the 1pm sailing is going at the moment. The staff were all lovely. We booked a cream tea but ended up with a cuppa and warm mince pie. Met a lovely guy from Oz and spent the trip chatting to him. Then went to Edinburgh for a meal, Xmas markets and theatre to see Kinky Boots! Fab day out! The winter sailings don’t go under the rail bridge but go under the 2 road bridges. We will go back in the summer and do the island and go under the rail bridge. Bargain at £7 each with the Expedia offer.

        • BJ says:

Good to hear and congrats on your anniversary. You hit a lucky week with the wearher given tbe rain and winds last week and snow on the way now. I am sure you will find a way to get a decent deal next time too.
