  • mel says:

I find MAS fares to be significantly more expensive this year in both economy and business. Last year I racked up quite a few TPs for Tokyo and Australia J fares and those fares this year are now a good RM 2000- RM4000 more

    • Michael C says:

Yep, still not worth it even with this offer, and next to zero Avios availability.

      • mel says:

i’ve given up ever finding any MAS availabilty on London, Jakarta, Singapore, Tokyo, Sydney and Melbourne (which I frequent). Never tried other cities so I’m not sure about other routes.

    • BJ says:

Fare seem to have increased quite a bit acrossmost airlines I’ve mchecked in the past year, even including Qatar. Collecting large amounts avios/miles may be becoming more important again just as it has become more difficult to do so with amex changes.

  • Mart says:

Need a lounge Gatwick south 2nd July anyone any ideas?

    • Doug M says:

How about as mentioned in the article above? Is it something more specific?

    • Lady London says:

If you have a scout round the low cost airline sites some of them have deals with other organisations that can sell you a list of things like lounges and car parking. You might find a deal on one of those. However July is peak period so they dont have to offer anything to get business. If you find anything and your dates are fixed I’d book it quick if i were you.

  • Andrew M says:

OT. Missing Hilton stay. Filled in claim form not this past Monday, but the one before. On submission, said should allow a week for missing stay to then credit. Nothing visibly happened so far. Should I be concerned? How best to escalate if so? I have a second claim in for same hotel, but that was only submitted this past Monday. Thanks.

    • Ryan says:

I also have a stay not registered from last Sunday.

Very odd, as HH normally update day after check out.

Stay is on the account, (although not registered as a “stay” either) but no points credited.

      • Justas says:

Yes, it seems that there was an issue with Hilton’s IT for stays over the last weekend. I had the same issue and a quick email to the Diamond desk got this resolved.

    • John says:

      Contact hotel

    • BJ says:

You should be concerned if you have to contact Hilton about anything, even as diamond, as they are hopeless. Your points might yet post without doing anything, they are obviously having problems with their systems at the moment and I think many tasks are being done or adjusted manually.

      • r* says:

Ive had multiple hilton hotel brand stays post bonus points but not base points, other hilton brands posted as normal. Contacted support and they said i had received the points (the bonus ones…) and ended up having to send screenshots and invoices at which point they did all the points manually.

        • Crafty says:

The Hilton customer service staff don’t appear to be briefed on the GLOBAL promotions, which is crazy.

      • guesswho2000 says:

Agreed. Best port of call is their Twitter account, as their normal support routes are useless.

        • Rash says:

Their normal support is definitely useless! Contacted Diamond support and they asked me to send them my receipt as they have no access to a system which can show that I stayed. They then said they will contact hotel who will send me the receipt, could I then forward this to them!

        • AndyGWP says:

Agreed – find the Twitter support fantastic (but that seems across the board for most companies really)

  • Ryan says:

Don’t know if this is the case nationwide, but new Edinburgh No1 Lounge is capacity controlled.

Thankfully, it is not available on the day with the discount code when I use it at the end if the month.

    • Olly says:

It’s a great offer with MSE for those who don’t normally use them but may well be problematic in getting in for those of us who already have access, due to increased numbers. Saying that, we used Aspire Gatwick North over the weekend and it was more staff that guests. Still had to wait over fifteen minutes for the breakfast to get replenished though.

  • Victor says:

OT: flying TAP in a couple of weeks from LHR T2. I have never used any of the Priority Pass lounges there – any tips or recommendations?

    • Victor says:

I can answer my own question by searching old HfP articles. Unless a newer lounge has opened as well as the Plaza Premium?

  • Curon says:

No link to the moneysavingexpert.com page?

  • Michael says:

No coverage of Delta/Virgin launching NYC/BOS at Gatters?

    • Russ says:

Rob doesn’t do hot off the press articles unless it’s important. Rather wait for an in depth review over the shallow stuff you read on other blogs keen to be first with the ‘news’.

      • Rob says:

Came out quite late and is VERY vague. We don’t know who is flying it, when it starts or what aircraft it will use.

      • Michael says:

I know Rob isn’t BBC News 24 – however it could of been worth a mention as it is very relevant in terms of potential future redemption opportunities. Nevermind, it’s not my blog.

        • Russ says:

Someone, in this case yourself, usually throws these things in the comments 🙂

        • Rob says:

But it isn’t bookable and you don’t know who is flying it or when! In which case, dropping it in Sat/Sun makes no difference.

This is only a spoiler for a potential JetBlue launch next week.

        • Alan says:

JetBlue could be interesting – they get excellent reviews for inflight product within the USA.

  • fivebobbill says:

    O/T Tesco mobile offer
Just had the second 2,000 points hit my Clubcard account today.
I know a few have been speculating as to whether you could maybe get a 3rd/4th/5th etc 2,000 pts awarded per linked numbers on your Clubcard account.
Well just to say that although I entered 2 different Clubcard numbers on my 2 sim card purchases, my statement shows both transactions listed under the one MASTER Clubcard number, ie: the original number allocated to my account when I opened it decades ago!
So it would appear that all the associated numbers are being linked to the main account before being posted.
If you know what i mean…

    • Doug M says:

      Damn their competence 😕

    • BJ says:

Thanks, probably the comment of the day 🙂 Now glad I didn’t succumb to the temptation.

    • whiskerxx says:

Re Tesco mobile offer – I have today been told by Tesco Clubcard and Tesco Mobile that the bonus 2000 points will not hit my account until the end of the quarter, but that doesn’t appear to be the experience of others does it?

      • Grant says:

normally 9 days from purchase of Rocket Pack to points showing.

    • Craig says:

Found the first sim process a little fiddly, the 20 points for spending £20 has posted so I’m expecting the bonus in a few days. I’ve ordered the second sim and will activate if the first one works OK.

      • Dev says:

Great to hear that both sets of 2000 points have posted on Tesco Clubcard accounts. Going to get the second SIM card this weekend.

      • BJ says:

Ignore their website. Pop the sim in phone and call unanswered call to activate( 20p comes on sim). Call 282 to add clubcard number. Call 4444 to add top up voucher. Await confirmation texts after each step before proceeding to next step.

        • fivebobbill says:

Followed this advice last time you posted it, completely painless – thanks

        • Lady London says:

Would have worked on mine if thé 0.20p crédit had been on it.
But thé opening balance when thé card pack was opened was a big round zéro. Worked for my friend though.

        • BJ says:

@Lady London, got all my sims in store. They were all in packs with rocket pack on outside of cover.
