American Express has launched a new cashback offer with taxi app Gett which operates in London, Bristol, Edinburgh, Coventry, Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester and Newcastle.

The offer may or may not be showing under the ‘Offers’ section on the Amex app or website for one of your cards.  You need to ‘save to card’ if it is.

Once you’ve done that, you will receive 15% cashback on all of your Gett rides between now and 23rd June.  This isn’t as generous as the offer Gett ran before Christmas, which offered a 25% rebate, but it’s basically free money so you can’t complain!  The £50 cap on cashback has gone, so for very heavy users you may even be better off this time.

If you’re not already using Gett, if you sign up via my referral link here (click) you will receive £3 off your first five rides.  The offer may vary for cities outside London.

    OT: When downgrading BAPP by applying for BA basic card is there anything to stop us following a (self)referral link and getting a bonus?

      Yes – no bonuses are given when moving between BA cards as it’s the same account.

          Actually no, Richard. When flitting between Amex accounts for referrals bonuses, then I use two separate Amex accounts (with different email addresses and logins, naturally) and then use my IDC card as my “other Amex”.

          Referring from ID1 to ID2 is hardly the same as self-referring to the same ID! 🙂

          So do you mean you had free BA card on ID#1 and referred for BAPP under ID #2?

          There’s some semantics at work here, Harry. 🙂 Self-referring has more than one iteration to my mind. But to answer your question: ID1 (MR a/c only) refers my ID2 a/c for BAPP, ID2 a/c already having a free BA card linked to it. Application successful, ID1 subsequently gets 18k MR (pre-bonus change) and ID2’s free BA card upgraded to BAPP.

        It’s possible but probably unlikely, however they can still do a credit check whether you phone or do it online
