Reviewing Jurys Rewards – is the Jurys Inn reward scheme any good?

The Jurys Rewards loyalty scheme is little known.  We thought it was time to give it a quick review.

The Jurys Inn chain is relatively low profile although – under the new ownership of Leonardo Hotels – it is now picking up again after a period of retrenchment.  It received a boost in 2015 when eight ex-Thistle properties joined its ranks and the chain now comprises 35 properties across the UK.

The Thistle acquisition reversed a period of shrinkage after a number of the bigger hotels were converted to Hilton.  These included the Hilton Garden Inn at Hatton Cross outside Heathrow and the DoubleTree at Chelsea Creek in West London.

What is interesting about the Jurys scheme is that it is heavily focussed on ‘in hotel’ rewards, letting you use your points for little things that will make your stay more enjoyable.  It is potentially a way for business travellers to order items which would otherwise be blocked by their travel policy such as ordering a bottle of wine with dinner.

There is not, for clarity, any option for earning airline miles via a Jurys hotel stay.

Jurys Rewards

How can you spend Jurys Rewards points?

You earn 10 points for every £1 or €1 spent.

The reward chart offers the following items:

  • Early check-in or late check-out – 100 points
  • Breakfast – 1,000 points per person
  • £10 credit towards your bill – 1,800 points
  • £20 credit towards your bill – 3,600 points
  • Bottle of house wine – 2,000 points
  • £25/€25 food credit – 4,000 points
  • 2-course dinner – 2,500 points per person
  • 3-course dinner – 3,000 points per person

High Street shopping vouchers or Jurys Inn vouchers are also available:

  • £20 – 3,600 points
  • £50 – 9,500 points
  • £100 – 18,000 points

…. as well as a range of wine and champagne redemptions from Virgin Wines.

For 900 points you can donate £5 to Scope.

You can also get free nights …. with dinner and breakfast

You can also redeem for free nights.  Jurys Inn is the only chain I know which lets you redeem for ‘dinner, bed and breakfast’ packages if you want.  Rates start from 5,900 points for ‘room only’ at their cheapest hotels to 16,900 points for ‘dinner, bed and breakfast’ at their most expensive.

You are earning a little over 5% back which is not a bad return.  Note that, as with most chains, you only earn points for rooms booked directly with the company.  In terms of free nights, you should receive a free night at their cheapest hotels for every 5-6 nights you buy.

Tier benefits with Jurys Rewards

Jurys has three different tiers.  You join on Floor 1,  Floor 2 requires 5-20 nights and Floor 3 requires 20+ nights in a year.

Floor 2 and Floor 3 are where you start receiving benefits – you are upgraded to a ‘superior room package’ which gets you early check-in, late check-out, free mineral water, biscuits, a newspaper, and 10% off your lunch or dinner spend.  You also get a free Costa voucher and, at Floor 3, a voucher for a free drink.

This sounds like a very reasonable package as long as it is delivered consistently by the hotels, given that you only need five nights to reach Floor 2.

    Maybe 5% for vouchers but it’s way better than that if you get a free night after 5 or 6 nights..

    At one of the cheaper hotels my average cost is about £65 per night and so I’m getting a free night every 9 or 10. This is a good deal.

    They will be very happy to give you a status match. Hilton diamond got me Floor 3 but I think even gold would.

    If you book through a 3rd party like hotels.com, contact Jurys to add your member number to the booking and you’ll still get status benefits, but not points. This is handy if you have a promo at the 3rd party eg double rewards nights or bonus rocketmiles etc. Still get your free beer or G&T, free Costa coffee.

    I’ve found the account to work flawlessly and update quickly, unlike Hilton.

    The hotel staff are generally excellent and the rooms are great quality for the price.

    On the other hand, I probably wouldn’t use them if I wasn’t regularly staying in one of their locations because then I wouldn’t earn a free night. Better off with chains with a bigger footprint or hotels.com.

    • Thanks for the Heads up on status match. Doh! I’m Floor 2 the hard way, but fall short of Floor 3 each year. Upgrades are much much more wired-in at Floor 3 looking at colleagues experiences.

    Stay in Jury’s hotels almost weekly. I’ll often get a nice treat in the room such as fresh cookies, flapjack or brownie. I always get a Costa voucher and discounted bar and food vouchers. I always get offered a free drink from the bar too.

    Redeeming points for stays word well but frustratingly no points and cash options.

    I have booked several Melia hotels on points as dinner bed and breakfast. They have family rooms too so works well for the three of us. Have had two short breaks out of the last batch of cheap points from Amazon and could choose to add dinner for a few more points so worked out a bargain.

    I regularly stay at the Jurys in Milton Keynes, Birmingham and Derby, and also stayed at Plymouth and Brighton seafront. I have also been Level 3 for the past two years. To me the biggest advantage is that the beds are consistently comfy and I get a decent nights sleep. On the rewards side readers must remember that the superior package is not necessarily a superior room. The room is the same but with the extras of biscuits, mineral water, Costa Coffee voucher and Drinks voucher(Level 3), though you may get upgraded to an Exec, but that is at hotel’s discretion. The drinks voucher is also open to interpretation by the hotel. The voucher states it is for one drink per stay and house wine or spirits. One Jury’s hotel enforces this to the letter, but most give a voucher per night’s stay. Also some bartenders are flexible on the brand of gin etc.Another advantage on the points redemption is that the value is fixed, My stay at the Brighton Seafront was when the room rate went up to £300+ because of the marathon, and next week I am staying at Oxford when again the room rate has gone to £300+ because of the Blenheim flower festival, But what to me are the main advantages of Level 3 at Jury – Early check in from midday, pleasant staff, recognition of loyalty and most important a good nights sleep on a very comfy bed

    I’m about to stay in Leanardo grand hotel Southampton, next week 19 th June,
    It’s a real shame that despite Leanardo/Jury’s being the same company,
    The reward scheme dosent apply to both hotel chains,
    I’m staying in Jury’s Belfast later on in the year and won’t get loyalty recognition for staying in The Leanardo part of this Brand.
    Is there ant plans to join both brands into one loyalty scheme.

  10. In Gateshead I got the Level 2 benefits and an upgrade to one of the 3 largest rooms in the hotel on my first stay (the hotel was very quiet). The Costa was the worst Costa coffee that I have ever had!

    One annoyance (which probably applies to a lot of hotels) was that when booking the difference between a room and room & breakfast was the same no matter how many guests were in the room- not good for a single traveller.
