Get up to 40% off No1 Lounges – an easy way to avoid the airport crowds this Summer

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

No1 Lounges has launched a new Summer promotion.

Click here, use the code SUPERSUMMER, and you can save up to 40% on your visits.  You need to book by 14th July for visits by 30th September.

As an example, Luton’s new Clubrooms lounge opened earlier this week (see website here).  This should be a major relief to passengers at the airport, especially as the existing Aspire lounge is often full.

I haven’t had any feedback yet but – as Clubrooms is the No1 Lounge’s ‘premium brand’ – I am expecting good things. The problem is that Luton Clubrooms is NOT accessible via Priority Pass, Lounge Club or LoungeKey.  DragonPass cardholders can get access at a reduced rate of £10.

This is not an issue at Birmingham – Priority Pass etc can all upgrade for £10 on the door.

The standard price for the Luton Clubrooms lounge is £27 – £10 lower than normal as an opening deal.  Via this offer, it drops further to £21.40.

The Birmingham Clubrooms lounge which we reviewed today drops from £34 to £20.40 – a genuine 40% discount.

Discounts are not always as big as this, but it is worth a look if you have any upcoming flights from Gatwick (both terminals), Edinburgh, Birmingham, Luton or Heathrow T3 or T4The sale link is here – don’t forget the SUPERSUMMER code.

  • John says:

New Amex offer Hilton £100 off £500 US only, unfortunately not a country I travel to and from what I hear US Hiltons are pretty lousy as everyone is Diamond for close to zero effort.

    • BJ says:

If you’re in Thailand again the ‘new’ DT at Ploenchit is now taking bookings. I think it is 30k/night but I locked in 5for4 for 92k next June to try.

      • BJ says:

PS, in the unlikely event you didn’t know already, it’s a refurb and rebrand of Majestic Grand so probably not much to get excited about unfortunately.

      • John says:

Yes thanks, I did know about it and the location is more convenient for me, will wait for some flyertalkers to try it out before I commit to staying. 92K for 5 nights is a reasonable price though.

    • Lee says:

      US Hiltons are fine.

Usually stay in 5 to 10 a year. Tend to opt for Hamptons and similar, but always get upgrades where they exist.

      • AB says:

        @Lee,

Thank you for the heads up on US Hilton’s. Trying to book some for our visit to LA and Vegas in December. Is there any particular reason why you stick to Hamptons?

        • John says:

Cheaper? From what I have heard US Hamptons are poor motels, nothing like Europe, apparently they only have plastic cutlery etc

  • d4ve says:

OT – assuming there are no more earthquakes, I am flying out of LAX tomorrow evening BA First (on a 241 – thank you HfP). Any suggestions on which lounge I should head for please? Am also a Amex Platinum if that opens up any other options.

    • Lyn says:

The Qantas First lounge is good, although not as good as their Melbourne First lounge, which is the only other one I have tried, and both were at breakfast time rather than the evening, so I can’t comment on the evening food or drinks.

The One World business lounge next door is also decent (although probably more crowded) if you end up being in a hurry and just want to be able to choose food from a buffet rather than ordering from a menu. The staff are always very helpful.

  • Stephan says:

OT is anyone having trouble linking new supplementary card to their main account? I’ve been told there is a change in policy and that I have to open a new account just for this one supplementary card.

    • BJ says:

If you have not already done so choose the activate card option as opposed to the option to apply the card to online account. This has always worked for me, not only on supps but on main cards too.

      • Stephan says:

I’ve activated it but some some reason I get an error when I try to add it to my account (as the supplementary user) and when I discuss over the chat they say it’s not possible anymore

        • BJ says:

I believe that is supposed to be the case and is so for most but some of us got the card to go on our main account. Sorry I cannot recall if I did it using app or desktop but it went on after activating the card online while signed in.

    • John says:

It has never worked for me unless it was the same card, i.e. wife and I both have BA free + supps, and our main card and supps are on the same online account. Whenever we have applied for a new Amex, the main cardholder can add it to the main online account but the supp needs to open a new online account. In 2015, Amex told me it was because one account had my full middle name and one had only my middle initial.

It doens’t bother me too much.

BTW managed to get £20 from the Wimbledon shop small 🙂 considering that I got precisely £0 for the past two years’ main shop small, I am pleased that there was finally something I wanted to use it on even if nobody else outside SW London would benefit :p

    • sayling says:

I’ve had similar issues before – as John says below, one time was because of an extra initial in the supp card name, the other time was when trying to add my card (supp to my wife’s account), where the issue was with no email address associated with my supp application/ card. Third time lucky, a CSA spotted the lack of an email, added it and then I was able to add the supp card to my main online account.

    • Nick_C says:

The Phillipines call centre will tell you it’s not possible. Brighton will send a memo to a team who will do it for you.

Unless something has changed very recently.

  • rotundo says:

O/T – just tried logging into my Marriott account and got a “The Account is under Audit” message for the first time ever! The amusing thing is that there is less than 500 points left on the account. I have a stay planned in August, what should I do: call Marriott and complain, or just open a new account? Just a bit concerned that the new account would come under suspicion too…

    • John says:

Wait until August to see if the audit is resolved. If the booked stay is linked to your existing account then they will see it, if not then open a new account with a variation of your name and address.

    • Matt says:

Hello – give us a bit more information, why is account under audit, my partner and I with 2 accounts have never had any issues?

      • rotundo says:

I don’t know for sure; I had this account for years and never had any trouble. Back in April I transferred points to a friend in exchange for points from another loyalty scheme, which strictly speaking is against the rules. As John suggested I’ll leave it for a few weeks then call them if it’s not resolved one way or another.

  • James says:

Is Lounge Club access via AMEX gold card still £15 per visit?

    • stevenhp1987 says:

      £20

      • Shoestring says:

yep that’s my only hope next Saturday (Club Aspire) – No1 is booked out anyway; no PP currently; but I do have a used-up Lounge Club card @ £20 x2, which IMV is marginally better than pub & sandwiches in terms of value for money if I give it a fair go.

Otherwise it will be pub – a couple of pints of Guinness @£5 – & save the money

      • James says:

        Interesting. How was that communicated?

  • The Streets says:

Speaking of Luton lounge I stumbled on this guy on you tube who chanced it travelling around Europe with no money… https://youtu.be/dYoZ3AT7ZEU

    • Graham Walsh says:

Watched some of his videos just now. Amazing how much he can get away with. However it’s stealing whilst he thinks its fun. It’s us paying the hotel breakfasts or lounge access that suffers.

      • The Streets says:

I totally agree… but with a little confidence just shows how much you can get away with

  • Lee says:

What is the difference between business and business suite?

    • Shoestring says:

Business Suite – they had to rename First so that the politicians could say they flew in Business

      • Rhys says:

Business Suite is also not quite as premium as First you would find on Singapore, Qatar, Lufthansa etc etc

Biggest difference in hard product is that Business is a cubby hole seat vs full width seat in the Suites. Also very small cabin, more exclusive meal service.

      • RussellH says:

A bit like Eurostar’s Leisure Select, marketed as First Class for leisure travellers – non-refundable + non-flexible ticketing, got rebranded as Standard Premium. Still first class seating, but they did get rid of the unlimited champagne and full meal option and replaced it with a small plate of three mini-snacks and one glass of wine.
Same hard product, downgraded soft product.

  • Grant says:

Contrary to what it says in the article, I seem to be able to book Clubroom access at BHX for £15 per guest with Priority Pass

    • Shoestring says:

It’s *LUTON* you can’t get into with PP.

      BHX Clubroom was always possible.

      • Grant says:

Apologies, that wasn’t particularly clear on my reading of those paragraphs.
