Wizz Air has announced that it is launching flights from Luton Airport to St Petersburg and Moscow.

Most people were taken by surprise when British Airways announced in May that it was dropping flights to St Petersburg.  Kiev was also closed at the same time.

As I wrote at the time, I assume that the continued economic sanctions against Russia have finally taken their toll.

Russia doesn’t help itself, however, by imposing its tough visa restrictions on St Petersburg.  This should be one of the most popular UK weekend break destinations, but in reality few people are willing to go to the trouble of arranging the necessary paperwork for the sake of a 2-3 night trip.

The good news is that Wizz Air has announced new routes to Moscow and St Petersburg from London Luton.

The services start on 1st October, just in time for the suspension of the British Airways St Petersburg flight on 4th October.  The only other direct option from the UK is the Aeroflot service from London Gatwick.

Curve related – I just paid my monthly virgin credit card statement using my curve card. I thought my curve account was set to use my debit card as a method of payment but it was actually set to use the credit card I’m paying off. The transaction appears to have gone through so far; the additional debit has been added to my virgin card and curve is also showing the transaction. Has anybody ever successfully done this as I don’t want to risk the transaction getting rejected and then missing my payment deadline. Should I just contact virgin up front and explain the error or keep schtum?

Any option to use the go back in time feature and charge it to another card?

Also, there isn’t much point wasting Curve spending limits using your debit card when presumably you could have just used that direct to pay your Virgin bill.

Thanks, I have tried that but it won’t let me go back in time at the minute while the transaction is still pending.

I wasn’t aware of the spending limits on the curve card. I never seem to get near them.

How would Virgin know? Doubt they are smart enough to see a matching debit and credit.
