  OT – Air New Zealand award availability on United.com appears to have disappeared in the past week. It might be just me, or certain routes, but it’s weird. I’ve been checking daily for space on the right days, and there was always *some* availability.

  Anyone know of other websites where you can check ANZ partner award availability? I’m used to checking United.com but booking via Virgin Atlantic

        OK now – didn’t want to make a crisis out of a drama but they (flying tomorrow) might have ended up in one of the toilet rows – crisis averted and nicely up the front

        seems it’s been a bit iffy over at BA IT the last couple of hours, so maybe not back to normal just yet

  Just saw this over at driiveme.co.uk – the £1 car rental consolidator – ‘The booking must be made with a payment card which bears the name of the driver
  Cards that are not embossed (eg: Maestro, Electron, Cirrus, Vpay …) are not accepted’

  would that rule out the Virgin credit cards? I would call them ‘printed’ rather than embossed, not sure if that’s what they mean though

    Europcar was on there when it wasnt on Europcar, when i took a quick squizz after someone first mentioned it. Thank you to whoever that was.

  Looking at virgin Atlantic points in April 2020. 45000 points per person plus £295 taxes or £385 per person cash price – what’s the point! Even with companion voucher I’m missing the point here

    The key point is that the tickets are not comparable, with the redemption you are buying flexibility. A fully flexible economy ticket would cost you a lot more than £385. Despite that, I wouldn’t redeem longhaul economy either.

    You only redeem long haul economy if you absolutely must fly on a certain date and the miles + taxes are a lower cost than paying flat cash
