Save 15% on BA Wine Flyer purchases with American Express

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

I have an offer on my British Airways American Express for 15% cashback for a purchase at BA Wine Flyer by 7th October.

This gets interesting.  As you can see in our article here, this is what you get with the current BA Wine Flyer introductory offer:

A 12 bottle case for £69.99 (white, red or mixed; RRP £127.88)

FREE delivery

2,000 Avios

2 FREE wine glasses (reader feedback was that these were Dartington Crystal stemless tumblers rather than the glasses advertised in the image)

Unlike previous offers ‘Wine Flyer’ does not involve subscribing to any recurring payment and delivery plans, so you won’t have to faff about with unsubscribing from ongoing offers.

15% cashback via your BA Amex would mean the cost drops to £59.49.  That’s not bad for 2,000 Avios and 12 bottles of wine.

The offer ends on the 30th September and is available to new Laithwaites customers only.  Existing customers receive 250 Avios.   You can order here.  Remember to register for the cashback deal first though.

If you don’t have a BA Amex, your Amex statement is likely to show a 15% discount for any purchase from Laithwaite’s Wine – you can see their selection here.

What a shame. No Laithwaites offers on my 3 cards. Running low from the previous naked wines and Laithwaites offers… Although I must state a preference for the naked wine bundle overall. Any non-Amex offers for either currently?

    • Rich says:

I get more £8 off £40 vouchers from Waitrose than I can use. Pay with JL gift cards bought from Morrisons or Tesco for a discount. Some very decent discounts on Waitrose wine that way.

      • Polly says:

We only get 4 off 40 spend..thats a good offer you get. Maybe cos we shop there often..

        • Andrew says:

You’ll get your 4 Virgin Miles per £1 spent too though?

(If you are Virgin Atlantic Flying Club member anyway).

      • Lady London says:

I’m sick of arriving home to find Waitrose vouchers on the mat expired because they won’t send them electronically. Have stayed in hotels minutes from good Waitroses I could have used the vouchers in had I received them electronically whilst working away. Even a few £4 or £8 off ones amongst them. Grrr.

I phoned Waitrose to ask do they plan to modernise and send electronically like everyone else is now. Or could they at least give the customer a choice.

Waitrose said they have no plans to send these vouchers electronically. Last few times I’ve actually not bothered to go straight to Waitrose to fill the fridge when I get home.

I will be going to John Lewis though because as of this week they’ve sent an email for their loyalty program offering the chance to opt for all-electronic.

  • Brasov says:

OT: Does the Morrisons offer allow you to purchase paper gift vouchers with Amex at the Customer Services for use at the petrol station?

    • Chrisasaurus says:

Comments previously posted indicate yes but no personal experience

    • PaulC says:

Yes it does, I’m down to my last £15 worth.

    • Zoe says:

I’m obviously off the pace, which Morrison’s offer please?

      • Shoestring says:

Amex – I’ve got 5% again on all/ repeat visit purchases, previously others had up to 10%

and yes – they are happy to take the Morrisons vouchers at the petrol station, they get treated as cash and you get change

buy them at the till or the kiosk, they’re not on the gift voucher stand

        • PaulC says:

Yes I only discovered they give you changhe once I was half way through my stash. I could of been buying my £3.50 meal deals and getting change from a £10 voucher to pay back to AMEX – Money and points for nothing with 10% back!

          • Zoe says:

Almost as good as about a week many years ago when newly refurbished Morrisons branches were accepting vouchers from any other supermarket. I had many hundreds of pounds worth of paper club card vouchers (redeemed online). My larder and wine stash got a major boost.

        • RussellH says:

Not available at the kiosk here. Only the tills.

    • Harry T says:

Yes, I used some yesterday to buy diesel from Morrison’s. I bought a load when the 10% off offer was on Platinum.

    • Alan says:

I’ve got the 10% on my platinum card. Does anyone have a knowledge of how much a Morrison’s store will sell you?

      • Shoestring says:

£2500 wasn’t a problem, they had to fetch book of £1000 out of the safe, I did it something like £300, £300, £500, £1000 that sort of pattern

they weren’t remotely suspicious and thought I had some cunning plan to pay my workers without any NICs or income tax, I didn’t like to say it’s all for diesel discount

        • Alan says:

Thanks. Presumably no short expiry date on them, unless they go bust…

          • Shoestring says:

no expiry date & the rate we burn diesel, as long as Morrisons are still there in the spring, we’ll be fine

        • Polly says:

I got 1k worth, wish we got more. Now only have 5% offer. Bummer.

        • EwanG says:

          Not bad going Shoestring.
I’m surprised we didn’t get lynched a few weeks back when buying JL Gift Cards at my 2 nearby stores. Felt really embarrassed at the grief being doled out to staff by some in the queue whilst waiting for the manager code and then processing a stack of them. The 2nd store mentioned if chip and pin didn’t work they wouldn’t sell them, apparently too much fraud on swipe. The first store didn’t let that stop them!!

  • Craig says:

OT: Google offer showing on Amex cards works with any spend as far as I can see, it mentions the Pixel phone but I bought some connected home equipment and triggered the offer.

  • Mark says:

On the wheely deal, what is the rough cost for getting from SE London (Lewisham) to Gatwick Airport this Saturday afternoon (i.e. traffic not too bad)…journey should take about an hour any guidance?

    • Marko says:

Wheely has fixed prices to the airport – for Lewisham to Gatwick you are looking at 85£ for the E-Class. With the discount, that’d be 60£.

      • TGLoyalty says:

20% off your first ride up to £30 discount so you’d save about £16 if you get referred that would save you some money too

Feel free to use mine Y9XJH I don’t think I’ve seen rob post his (only allows 15 uses so might be why)

    • tony says:

I suspect it’ll be toppy. I took a Wheely from the City to Baker Street and it was £35. So that’s 75-100% more than a black cab for the same journey. Admittedly traffic wasn’t great and I had a £25 discount (price was before discount), but I don’t think it’ll save you over using a more ‘traditional’ service even with the offer code.

PS – offer not showing on any of my three AX cards.

  • ScienceTeacher says:

Date point for cost: I used Wheely last year.

Sloane Square tube station to Westfield, Shepherds Bush was roughly £45 before the offer.

  • Combatjohnny says:

Is anyone elses ‘1000 avios for £30 in a supermarket but tracking?

  • Neil Donoghue says:

I must confess, Wheely isn’t the cheapest but if you are looking for an executive car (A Mercedes S-Class) then it’s perfect and the rates aren’t bad at all. I would never use it for an E-Class as you can get those on Uber for 30% less.

    • nick says:

      Disagree

Often its uber x that comes out as most expensive from LHR to NW London
      I was shocked

  • n_g says:

OT: Looking at a few nights in the Balmoral with AMEX FH&R and there appears to be a sentence in the small print saying ‘Benefits apply to executive rooms or above’. Has anyone every came across this before? I have no idea what this sentence means and whether they are talking about the $100 credit, the late check out, the breakfast or everything. Will ring AMEX Platinum but curious if anyone has ever come across similar before.

    • Rob says:

Odd. Perhaps they have some very cheap rooms which cost less than the food credit on some nights?

      • n_g says:

Room rate is pretty low considering the high standard of the hotel (about £200) but is seems strange to sneak this by in the hidden T&Cs. Surely they could just simply not offer that room. Maybe it’s rare someone using FH&R would book the Classic room so never had this issue.

        • Rob says:

I booked a one-nigher at Park Hyatt Hamburg for the inlaws last week (we were there in a suite for 4 days).

Paid €229 on a Hyatt Prive rate via Emyr. Upgraded to a junior suite (via Hyatt Prive), got free breakfast (via Hyatt Prive), got club access as a side effect of the suite upgrade AND they got €85 food and beverage credit. Astonishing package in one of the finer city hotels in Europe.

          • n_g says:

Might have to enquire about whether I can get similar for my forthcoming trip if AMEX confirm my suspicions. I’ve never used the service before, mainly because I’ve become accustomed to searching through option’s online rather than via a third party.
