Accor runs regular promotions offering QUADRUPLE Accor Live Limitless points at its new hotels.  There are often no UK properties taking part, but the new list has some good options.

Here are the participating properties in the UK:

ibis Styles London Heathrow Airport East (funky picture below, it is on Great West Road and so has an art deco theme)

Mercure Oxford Hawkwell House

Novotel Leicester

Adagio Aparthotel Leicester

Ibis Styles London Heathrow East

To see participating hotels outside the UK, click on the promo page on the website and click ‘Conditions of Sale’.  It is a very varied list running from Ibis to a new Pullman Maldives resort.

Here are the rules:

  • You MUST register before booking via this special page of the Accor website
  • You must book before 3rd March
  • You must stay before 19th April
  • There is no minimum stay
  • You can only earn the bonus once (not once per hotel, once in total across all the participating hotels)

The offer works out nicely:

  • You earn 2.5 Accor base points per €1
  • You earn 7.5 additional Accor points per €1 as your promo bonus

This is a total of 10 Accor points per €1 equivalent you spend, plus any status bonus you are due.  This is worth 20 Eurocents if used for Accor hotel vouchers – so 20% back on your spending – or 10 Avios per €1.

The rate is lower at Ibis, at 1.25 points per €1, and Adagio, at 1 point per €1.  This means that only two of the four hotels above earn the full 2.5 points per €1.

If you choose to auto-convert into Avios, you must choose Iberia Plus and not British Airways Executive Club.  This is because the conversion rate is different – 1:1 into Iberia Plus versus 2:1 into British Airways Executive Club.  Later, you can move your Avios from Iberia Plus to British Airways Executive Club using ‘Combine My Avios’.

You can register for the ‘quadruple points at new Accor hotels’ offer here.

[FLYBE is racing to plug a multimillionpound hole in its finances as the Government decides whether to step in with a bridging loan.
The Sunday Telegraph has learnt that Europe’s biggest regional airline has held a series of emergency meetings with airports over millions of pounds in unpaid landing fees.
Industry sources said Flybe last week “got out its begging bowl”, appealing for more time to pay debts. It is understood that boss Mark Anderson led crisis talks with major bases including Birmingham, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Southampton.]

So it´s not looking good. What´s your guess Shoestring?

      • Shoestring says:

guess: Flybe will get the £100m loan from Govt, limp on, cut quite a few routes, cut a lot of Exeter jobs and any other overhead the new owners can think of, mortgage their assets to the hilt as TC did, survive this winter OK then basically have one season to prove the model can/ will work

    • Doug M says:

The thing is that if the gov step in is it to protect routes on the basis of national need? Because commercial management from Virgin and friends will be about what’s profitable and works for them as a feeder network. Which leaves the purpose of the loan and commercial reality on separate paths. Still I’m sure the gov will protect national interests like they have with railways, utilities and Cadbury.

  • Shoestring says:

[One of the most crucial figures for start-ups is the number of monthly active users that they have. Having a high percentage of customers returning each month is a reliable indicator that a digital bank is healthy. Business Insider’s claim that data showed just 14pc of Curve customers used their card every month is far below statistics around 70pc claimed by many banking start-ups.
Is the 14pc statistic accurate? Bialick answers without any hesitation: “Very.”
His public relations manager almost leaps to his feet. Bialick hurriedly corrects himself. “Very inaccurate. It’s not accurate! Everyone uses the card,” he says.
Bialick claims the figure published by Business Insider was “taken a year before the article was made”. He says a more accurate figure is around 80pc.]

Considering lots here use it to pay monthly bills in the south I think he’s probably right.

I use mine multiple times weekly if not daily

  • BJ says:

OT: I continue to experience problems topping up Monese via paypoint with cc. Today the transaction initially went through only to be reversed seconds later.

    • mark2 says:

I used mine at two different Coops this morning

      • BJ says:

Thanks Mark. I have no idea what’s up. I contacted Monese and they claimed my card is fine.

        • prune says:

So am i right to think paypoint is still working and over the counter at the post office is not.

        • EwanG says:

Did you see my reply yesterday @BJ to your bits comment about this on Friday’s article? Might explain one of the issues you’ve had!

          • BJ says:

Thanks Ewan, just found it. Unfortunately it was neither of those as I previously used the card to top up Monese successfully and .it was a Co-Op in Moray. The shop assistant definitely swiped it, I added another item and it went through fine before reversing itself. She was as surprised as me. It was £245 so I’ll wait to ensure it drops off my amex pending list before trying with a different card next time. Might try a small cash top up to ensure Monese card is ok despite assurances from them that it is.
