Get £80 cashback on Qatar Airways flights with American Express

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

The latest travel company to offer a cashback offer on American Express cards is Qatar Airways. The offer is £80 back on £800+ spend.

We have had numerous comments from people who have this offer so it seems to be fairly widespread.  You need to look on the ‘offers’ tab on the online statement page for every Amex card you have.

The offer is open to the first 8,000 people who ‘save’ the offer to their card. You must book by 27th March 2020 which gives you plenty of time to wait for a good promotion to come around.

The key restriction is that it is only valid on flights departing from the UK (Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Cardiff).  It is NOT valid on ex-EU bookings.

Don’t forget there are also strong Amex cashback offers running for Malaysia Airlines (details here) and Hilton (details here).

You need to book directly via the Qatar Airways website to trigger the cashback.

PS.  If you missed it, take a look at our recent article on the top 10 reasons why you should get the American Express Platinum card.

4th night free at IHG through September at many brabds/markets. Use code MEMBERS STAY MORE

    • Andy says:

Where is the code from? And how does it work exactly?
You book a four night stay and the last night is free?
Or you have three seperse stays and you earn a free a night?

      • BJ says:

Just pop it in IHG rate box , book 4 nights, the 4th is free if hotel is participating. Using the code five you the chance if further discounts via the usual suspects but obviously not guaranteed if a code is used. The promotion and IHG link can already be found on other blogs if you dont want to use code via a third party.

        • Zara says:

Hey there – I can’t seem to find where I can amend the rate for IHG and can’t find the members stay more right either. Any tips? Thx

          • BJ says:

You’ll find the link at LoyaltyLobby.

OT @Rob, some feedback on references to other blogs and links to them would be useful. I’m not sure whether you are relaxed about such or not.

          • Rob says:

If it’s genuinely good info then it’s fine.

        • Zara says:

          Thank you BJ

    • ChrisC says:

tried several hotels / destinations / dates and always get ‘not available’!

    • ChrisC says:

thanks for this but takes a lot of trial and error to find anything that gets the last night free!

      • Rhys says:

Indeed….small piece in bits tomorrow but not exactly a lucrative deal

      • BJ says:

The hotels I tried were all on the list so either blackout dates apply or the system is not processing the offer correctly.

  • Rich says:

But the comments say the A350 is now rostered?

  • Spurs Debs says:

O/T. On BAPP card 5000 avois with Farfetch spend of £250+

    • TGLoyalty says:

I have spend £250 get £50 back instead on Plat

Plus £20 get £5 back at Papa Johns

Plus £399+ get £40 back at Apple.

      All 3 only on Plat

    • Anna says:

Thanks for the heads up Debs – I’ve just scored 2 Rebecca Minkoff bags at 70% off in the sale! (Not both for me lol).

HOWEVER – be aware that there is an extra promo code – my total bill was reduced by £50 at the payment stage so took my order below £250, and I didn’t realise until I checked my confirmation email. This is an extra benefit in the end, though, as it looks as though cumulative spend will count so I should be able to place another order to make up the required spend.

      • Anna says:

I should probably throw down the gauntlet to Shoestring now – over £700 of bags for less than £200, Shoestring 😂

      • Shoestring says:

sold my surplus Radley bag yesterday 🙂

      • Spurs Debs says:

My Son has very kindly sent me links to the required spend. In his words “ I’m happy to help” lol

Will you get extra points if you go through BA eshop
        5points per £ ?

        • Anna says:

Arghh – I forgot to check that option in my excitement. It usually works though with these kind of offers.

      • idrive says:

would you share the code, please?

        • Anna says:

Shoestring posted it before but it seems to have disappeared! I can’t remember – it was automatically applied to my order, I don’t recall seeing it at all at checkout.

          • Anna says:

The code seems to be JAN20 and it is applied automatically on orders over £150. Be aware that if you are buying items which are going to be shipped from abroad this bumps up the shipping charge a lot (e.g. they wanted £10 extra shipping for a £7 set of Nike socks as they were coming from Poland, apparently). You may need to play around a bit with your selected items and double check the shipping costs on the last page.

  • Spurs Debs says:

My return flight was affected by this, called YouFirst all sorted out same seats on new flight. It suits us better as only picked the NRT flight as it was the latter flight.

  • TGLoyalty says:

It was BA crew rather than just FT regulars.

  • Neil says:

OT – I’ve never cancelled a BA reward flight. To cancel a 241 booking, will I just click the cancel link on the booking page to receive the refund of points and taxes (minus the 2x £35) or do I need to call them for it to be cancelled correctly? Do the refunded avios take long to return? Many thanks.

    • Lewis King says:

Just cancel it the normal way online, and your points and 2-4-1 should be back shortly, at most a few days.

      • Stu N says:

If it’s a straightforward booking made online and not amended since, I’d cancel it online. You should get Avios and voucher back almost instantly.

If you’ve amended the booking over the phone (eg adding inbound at T-355 or any changes to flights), I’d recommend phoning to cancel – it will save you hassle down the line.

      • Lady London says:

BA quotes 7 days for refunds. Avios and ‘tax’ (quotes=hommage to @ChrisC) may come back on different days

Watch it like a hawk and phone them if both are not back in 7.

    • Rob says:

Yes. Avios should be back when you log out and log in again. Make sure you are logged in when you cancel – seems to avoid IT bugs.

  • alan young says:

Totally O/T do Hertz always run a Summer sale ? If so when does it usually start.? Looking to get a good discount for a rental out of Linate in August.

    • Charlieface says:

Usually. April or May feels right but don’t have a record of previous dates

  • Rob says:

BA is getting 18 A350s and has over 100 long haul aircraft. It wouldn’t make any difference if the A350 could only store one meal in total, there are still plenty of places to use them. Pointless discussion.

    • marcw says:

I think its perception (+ new radio galley). As a general rule, the working space in the 350’s is tighter. So the crews perception is “no way this plane can hold catering for a full LH flight”. However, reality is different. There is enough space available.
