World of Hyatt launches its new Spring hotel points promotion – register now

World of Hyatt has launched its new Spring promotion.

It is another outing for the ‘Bonus Journeys’ offer which ran last Autumn.

Unfortunately, Hyatt still hasn’t got the message about making its promotions member-friendly:

Your first stay after registering doesn’t earn a bonus.  Your bonus only kicks in from your second stay after 15th February once you have registered.  

Registration closes early, on 31st March.  Tough luck if you suddenly find yourself with a Hyatt stay between 31st March and the last day to earn the bonus on 15th May.

The first point is a problem for me as I am planning a pricey 3-night Hyatt stay in April but nothing before that.  You might be seeing a review of the Hyatt Place at Heathrow soon ….

Both of these factors make it less attractive to move stays to Hyatt this Spring.

‘Bonus Journeys’ runs from 15th February to 15th May.  You will earn:

double base points at all Hyatt branded hotels

double base points at all other hotels, eg Small Luxury Hotels of the World, which can be booked via the Hyatt website

an additional 1,500 bonus points per stay if you are a Hyatt credit card holder (not possible for UK residents) and stay over a Friday, Saturday or Sunday

Remember that:

you only receive the bonus from your 2nd stay after registration and after 15th February

you need to register before 31st March

you are capped at 100,000 bonus points, albeit you need to spend $20,000 to hit that

I value a World of Hyatt point at 1.1p.  You earn 5 base points per $1 so, doubling this and adjusting for the exchange rate, you’re getting about 12% of your spending back in points.  Status members will do even better due to the extra elite bonus.
