The new HfP chat thread launches – Sunday 22nd March

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

Starting today, we have decided to run a daily chat thread on Head for Points.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the defacto repository for random comments and questions.  It is unlikely that the news flow will be so big over the next few weeks that we will need many ‘Bits’ articles, however.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are stuck at home self-isolating, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as its keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

We will review how this works after a few days:

we could potentially split it into a daily travel and non-travel chat thread

we may install some basic forum software

we may start suggesting potential topics for daily discussion

Let’s see how it goes.

We have sent this initial article to our email subscribers so they are aware of what is going on.   From tomorrow, email subscribers will not receive a link to the daily chat thread.  If you visit the site, however, a new chat thread will be opened each morning.  Regular articles will continue to be emailed.

We will do a separate article in a day or so about how we plan to run the site over the next few weeks.  Take care!

Hey guys, any thoughts on the below?

I had Qatar business flights to Tokyo booked credited to BA Exec. 560 tier points which would have extended my silver status. Due to Covid 19, the trip had to be rescheduled to a date past my tier points expiry.
Any chance of BA extending status for scenarios like these? I can’t be the only person in this situation!

    Thanks

If it’s within 2 weeks of your year end then they will

However why worry credit 560 to your new year and book a SH 40 TP trip to earn silver for nearly 2 years instead of 1 and a bit.

      • Gavin says:

And let’s face it the status isn’t going to be used any time soon – no lounges open and few people will be flying until the Autumn, if any routes and indeed airlines are still going

  • Lynn says:

I rang on Friday afternoon (both my flights cancelled by BA) and full refund is on my Amex this morning – I was pleasantly surprised.

  • Kieran says:

Apologies if this has already been mentioned but anyone else notice that their 241 vouchers have been extended by 6 months without even asking?

My first voucher that expires end of October now expires end of April, and my second voucher that expires end of November 21 now expires end of May 22.

    Cheers BA!

    Travel Agent refund question!
Had booked in Feb, Business x 2 Return with TRIPZUMI from ABZ via OSL & DOH to BKK for 14th April flying SAS (Star Alliance) and Qatar (One World!) – do not ask how they are linked but could see all flights on both their websites!
Flights now cancelled if looking at websites but TRIPZUMI refuses to process refund and says their T&Cs allows them to KEEP up to 100% of money from airline(s)!!!!
Has also now changed booking ref to a new booking ref with ABZ to OSL (one way) which appears to be still running is now costing just shy of £3000….what I had paid for BKK return for two!
Barclaycard are also not doing anything to help!

ANYONE on forum with similar circumstances or can give advice would be MOST appreciated as at wits end
    Duncan

    Is this finished?
    Nothing since 28thMarch

  • K RAINDI says:

Understandable when no-one is travelling. I see Airlines will raise faires (doubling at least) when flights resume
