The new HFP chat thread – Wednesday 25th March

We have decided to run this new daily chat thread on Head for Points.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the defacto repository for random comments and questions.  It is unlikely that the news flow will be so big over the next few weeks that we will need many ‘Bits’ articles, however.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are stuck at home self-isolating, we want the HFP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as its keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

We will review how this works after a few days:

we could potentially split it into a daily travel and non-travel chat thread

we may install some basic forum software

we may start suggesting potential topics for daily discussion

Let’s see how it goes.

We will do a separate article in a day or so about how we plan to run the site over the next few weeks.  Take care!

      Figure on more like 2 weeks these days. If you’re nervous, check your ex-booking reference on Manage My Booking and you should see the message that your cancellation and refund are being processed

    We have just been forced to return from a 3 week holiday to India after just one week. This was a bespoke holiday package arranged by Kuoni. Kuoni are now refusing to have any discussion with us regarding the remaining two weeks. We would be happy to simply push it forward 12 months, but the only correspondence we have received from them (after we sent them an email) was to say it was a Force Majeure, and we should try contacting our travel insurance! Surely this is their responsibility? Can anyone advise??

  3. Hi. Any one with any experience of American Express Platinum card insurance – are claims relating to COVID-19 being entertained? If so what’s covered? It’s impossible to contact AmEx re this. Likewise they hand off to AXA who are non contactable as well. Any tips please. Thanks.

    Hi, I booked flights in May from Milan to Bangkok with Lufthansa’s 2 4 1 sale. Does anyone know whether they will be refunded assuming the only essential travel advice is still in place.

  5. I booked an emirates flight through lastminute to Dubai, which has now inevitably been cancelled. However I booked it £500 on gift voucher and £450 cash. What Refund am I entitled to ? Can I get it all in cash? or atleast the part that I paid in cash back in cash?
