The new HFP chat thread – Thursday 2nd April

We have decided to run this new daily chat thread on Head for Points.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the defacto repository for random comments and questions.  It is unlikely that the news flow will be so big over the next few weeks that we will need many ‘Bits’ articles, however.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are stuck at home self-isolating, we want the HFP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as its keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

By default, HFP shows the last page of comments under the article.  If you want to see the first page of comments and read them all from beginning to end in order, click here: The page will refresh with this article but the comments will now show the first page and not the last page.

We will continue to monitor how this is working:

we could potentially split it into a daily travel and non-travel chat thread

we may install some basic forum software

we may start suggesting potential topics for daily discussion

Let’s see how it goes.  Take care!

  1. Brian W says:

BA website won’t currently let me price anything up that includes a domestic connection via LHR for an Avios booking. Is this because the domestics aren’t currently operating?

I’ve tried numerous attempts for bookings ranging from June through to December this year and from both Edinburgh and Glasgow to numerous destinations. Searching for the LH flight only is fine but the connection won’t play ball.

    • Harry T says:

I think you have to say yes when it asks you about stopovers and then say you are stopping over in London. That seems to work for me – I often find it a bit glitchy when adding on regional connections.

      • Brian W says:

Thanks Harry, that’s where the problem is though, no matter whether I say yes or no to a stopover it keeps returning an error and going back to the ‘do you want to stopover screen’.

I normally just say no and it works fine but seems broken tonight 🙁

        • Looks like you’ll need to call or be patient. Have you tried a different browser or the app? Move avios to AerClub and book from there?

    • Cheshire Pete says:

I’ve this before, it’s a bug. You need to logout and in again to start again. See if that helps.

  2. Alan W says:

I made my VFC to HH request about 10 days ago and only today got quite a complex set of questions including previous addresses, previous emails, previous phone numbers, last flight taken etc for data protection purposes.. Miles have left VFC account but not made it to HH. Anyone else had this? I’m worried as if I miss the transfer this month I may have to wait another 30 days and may either lose them completely or possibly wish I’d never transferred them in the first place!
