The new HFP chat thread – Thursday 7th May

We have decided to run this new daily chat thread on Head for Points.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the defacto repository for random comments and questions.  It is unlikely that the news flow will be so big over the next few weeks that we will need many ‘Bits’ articles, however.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are stuck at home self-isolating, we want the HFP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as its keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

          What do you mean? Make it a useful resource with proper forum software?

          • Forum decision is made, but you need to give us 3 months to get the new-look HFP up and running. Forum is only a small part.

          I really hope I’m wrong and think our responses here should/will be deleted due to being replies to the original post, but I’ve come to realise there may be a problem of medication being missed here? Would explain a lot. Does anyone think this could be the case?

    Tesco pet insurance. After numerous emails and formally raising a complaint my points have finally posted. Took out the policy on 20th Feb. They had offered me £10 compensation which i turned down. Be interesting to see if they offer more or not.

    Any news on BA status? I was set to re-gain Gold before the pandemic; at the moment they seem the only company not to be extending.

    Do they want me to fly Air France/KLM via PAR and AMS; as I’m NCL it makes no difference to which hub I use… If my status dies why stick with BA?

    • Yes. There’s enough people who’ll still fly BA, they won’t go above and beyond because they don’t need to.

    ‘BA refund helper’ was set up to help FlyerTalk members get refunds if they are struggling through regular channels. It is only me processing these refunds in my spare time.
    * Please do not contact me unless you have been unable to source a refund through the usual channels for two weeks. There’s limits to the amount of time I have so this makes things fairer for all
    * I will be giving priority to existing established FlyerTalk members, unfortunately I’ve been getting loads of messages from people with no posting history often asking questions they’d already know the answer to if they participated in the forum

      Hello. Can BA perhaps assign a couple of members of staff to do the same for people here? Might take some of the pressure off. If you’re doing it for FT there’s no reason you can’t do the same here (over email). Would save a lot of people time on the phones. You can give us an FAQ so that common questions are avoided.
