British Airways Holidays launches a flash sale to celebrate the end of quarantine

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

British Airways Holidays has launched a flash sale following the announcement of the list of quarantee-free travel destinations.

You can save up to £200 on holidays booked by 9th July.  You must fly out by 30th September and return by 7th October.

For new Flight and Hotel bookings:

  • Save £200 on holidays with a minimum spend of £4,000 per booking
  • Save £150 on holidays with a minimum spend of £2,500 per booking
  • Save £100 on holidays with a minimum spend of £1,500 per booking

Earn bonus Avios with BA Holidays

There is also a permanent Avios incentive for booking with BA Holidays.  You earn a bonus 1 Avios per £1 you spend when booking with BA Holidays.  You can find out more on ba.com here.

This bonus is on top of the Avios and tier points you will earn from the flights which are the same as you would get for booking a ‘flight only’, and whatever miles you will earn from your credit card spend.

You should also remember that that BA Holidays spending earns you double Avios (3 per £1) if you charge it to a British Airways Premium Plus American Express card.

You can see the full ‘Customer Promise’ including the T&Cs on the BA Holidays website here.

The BA Holidays ‘Customer Promise’

As we covered the other day, BA Holidays has launched a new ‘customer promise’ to provide reassurance when you book:

Here are the key takeaways:

We’ll let you change your plans
If you book a holiday before 31 August 2020 for travel up to 30 April 2021, we’ll let you amend your booking for free (just pay the difference in price) or cancel it and get a voucher for travel up until 30 April 2022.

We’ll let you manage your payments flexibly
Secure your booking with a deposit from as little as £75pp, pay off the balance in instalments, and your final payment is not due until three weeks before your holiday starts.

We’re here for you when you need us
We have a 24-hour holiday helpline for any issues whilst you’re away, and if your plans change or the unexpected happens, we will prioritise getting you home as soon as possible.

We’ll act responsibly and without delay
In the event that we cannot fulfil your holiday package, in keeping with our obligations under the Package Travel Regulations, you will receive a full refund within 14 days.

One of the key benefits of a BA Holidays booking is that you only pay a deposit at the time of booking, with the balance normally paid five weeks prior to departure. This has been reduced to three weeks in recent months and it looks like this will continue under the new ‘Customer Promise’, as British Airways hasn’t given an end date.

The deposit you need to pay on booking is:

  • Flight + hotel and flight + car holidays between £300-£999:  from £150 deposit per booking
  • Flight + hotel and flight + car holidays between £1,000-£2,999:  from £300 deposit per booking
  • Flight + hotel and flight + car holidays between £3,000-£3,499:  from £400 deposit per booking

  • BJ says:

I doubt they will be celebrating for long, they’ll likely have to cancel most of these holidays. R number range reportedly already exceeding 1 in London, and very likely to get higher. Let’s see.

    • The Lord says:

R number doesn’t tell the whole story. Infection rate a much better measure. This reached 141 per 100,000 in Leicester. In most boroughs of London it is below 10. Germany don’t get worried unless it goes above 50. Nothing to worry about in London despite what the headlines try to scare us with

      • Tariq says:

Trying to educate the bed wetters is really a pointless exercise!

I wonder why the manipulative media want a captive audience stuck in front of their TVs… 🙄

    • TGLoyalty says:

R and the prevalence are important

But of course you can only sustain above 1 for a short period before it gets out of hand. The important bit is people can be tested and Contacts know they should stay home as it’s a confirmed case not just suspected.

      • Mr(s) Entitled says:

R is just the multiplier and is pretty meaningless on it’s own but the media have long lost interest in actual journalism and now it is simply about speed. Can you get the message out first? Not, what is the value of the message.

        I’d rather a R of 2 in a prevalence of 1 in 1,000,000 than an R of 0.5 in a prevalence of 1 in 10.

    • Rob says:

      R of 1.1 on 8 cases per 100,000 ….. go and buy a calculator.

      • will says:

And that was without the pubs open!

      • BJ says:

This is naive. I mentioned R number only because Johnson and his incompetent government apprar to have adopted it as the primary basis on which to drive their policy, with the result that it has become widely reported in the media and captured the attention of the public. Who will ever forget the ludicrous Johnson broadcast with the R meter and associated graphics etc? Just ask @Cat what she thought of those simply from a mathematical perspective. I am certain government policy is being driven by the R number against the advice of their own science and medical experts because there are much better ways to go about it. The situation on the ground in London and elsewhere tomorrow, next week, next month is not going to be well predicted simply by using the R number. The extent to which people can travel is not going to be determined by the British Government and British Airways, it is going to be determined by overseas governments, and it is not going to be the R number they will be most focussed on in reaching their decisions.

  • Phat Git says:

Is there any way to use an Amex 2 for 1 voucher with BA holidays? I’m just thinking about the added protection that a package holidays offer over separately booked flights and hotels

    • sayling says:

I seem to recall that, if you book over the phone, you can tag a hire car on and get the ATOL certificate. If you add a car later, no ATOL…

Strictly speaking, it’s not through BA Holidays, but it does then become a package holiday

    • Rob says:

Not online. Possibly if you ring up, do the 241 and then let them sell you a hotel whilst you are on the phone, it would count. However, the flight and hotel would be charged separately to your payment card, which might mean it isn’t a package ….

  • jamesj says:

+1 more like welcome back to getting ripped off

  • mutley says:

Indeed, I think I will pass on 5% and wait until 2021

  • Dawn says:

Interesting that the Dalaman flight on July 19th is listed as from Gatwick. I was booked on this flight and they cancelled it a few days ago and moved the flight to Heathrow instead.

  • First Class Fiona says:

@Tony, what do you want old bean, a free holiday? I’m sure you’ll be aware that BA are suffering significantly in the financial department and I’m sure that offering heavier discounts just isn’t possible. In my view, this is better than nothing and certainly not something to moan about. Chin up and stay cheerful x

    • First Class Fiona says:

@Tony, clearly you are one of those types whose glass is always half empty and wouldn’t get excited even if they were offering 50% off. I’ve already made a booking and saved £200. So, on a holiday I was going to buy anyway, I now have £200 more to buy champers tomorrow so I’m completely winning. Bottoms up my dear, ching ching x

      • First Class Fiona says:

@Tony, I’m currently quaffing a fine Krug Grande Cuvée. You can only get one bottle for £200 but that’s one more than I had before thanks to BA x

  • Joe says:

With holidays you have to give 3 weeks notice to cancel whereas flight flexibility is until check in closes. Meant I steered clear of holiday given how quick everything’s changing.

  • tony says:

This is indeed a lame offer. Last Saturday morning I took a gamble and booked for the family ( 5 of us) City-Palma & back, plus a car for 11 days in August for £880. Looked again last night and it was just shy of £2k for the same combo.

Hope we don’t have to cancel but with the voucher on offer if we do decide not to go, I was happy to take the risk.
