The new HFP chat thread – Wednesday 5th August

We have decided to run this new daily chat thread on Head for Points.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  It is unlikely that the news flow will be so big over the next few weeks that we will need many ‘Bits’ articles, however.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are stuck at home self-isolating, we want the HFP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as its keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

By default, HFP shows the last page of comments under the article.  If you want to see the first page of comments and read them all from beginning to end in order, click here:  The page will refresh with this article but the comments will now show the first page and not the last page.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HFP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Also has anyone used air transat? Thats our alternative

  • J says:

Interesting that IAG shares surged today (up 10%). Virgin only provide limited competition but another British airline with a decent (better) product and service keeps BA on their toes. Without them I think BA will cut costs and end up as bad as United and American (fares will go up though).

    • TGLoyalty says:

EasyJet has surged over past two days aswell.

    • Doug M says:

What’s wrong with AA and UA?
Honestly that seat in UC on Virgin is just horrible, the service is nice, but really have you actually flown UA or AA on their Trans Atlantic services?

  • John says:

    Asked in wrong place previously.
    Considering Waldorf in Maldives.
I know if is better to go in April but alas can’t. Has anyone been June or August and can advise on weather? Love to relax and sunbathe!

    • Tom H says:

John you’re better off asking on the FT forum, there are some extremely knowledgeable people who will know

    • Lee says:

To me there weren’t much differences, I’ve been there in Dec, Apr and Aug.

  • Stuart says:

Eastern flying from Teesside to Heathrow from September. Where have they got the slots from?

    • J says:

The Flybe slots I think as BA have to give some up if another airline will use them to fly domestically.

  • Connor says:

Are you able to add Shop Small to supplementary cards? Would be handy for an extra discount at a restaurant next week.

(They’ll have to set up their own online account and register the card with it if they haven’t already)

      • Connor says:

Cheers, thought so, good old Amex customer service telling me it can’t be done. Jumped on live chat for the 2nd time and it was added no problem!
