The HfP chat thread – Wednesday 7th October

We have decided to run this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

By default, HfP shows the last page of comments under the article.  If you want to see the first page of comments and read them all from beginning to end in order, click here:  The page will refresh with this article but the comments will now show the first page and not the last page.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Wondering if anyone knows – do Hyatt status perks apply when you book via a third party website?

    • Rob says:

No (except for Amex FHR and Virtuoso)

      • Harry T says:

And Hyatt Prive bookings through a preferred partner like Emyr (who also doe Virtuoso, of course). Prive should be a better than Virtuoso.

  • Tw33ty says:

Anyone had any experience of the amex ihg offer for indigo / cp offer of £60 back when spending £250?

What I’m curious about is will it only trigger on a transaction of £250+ or will it trigger over two or three cumulative stays totalling over £250?

Any help or experience would be greatly appreciated.

    • Sukes says:

Wording on the offer is ‘on eligible spend’ (as opposed to ‘on an eligible transaction’) so it should work on cumulative spend.

Finally got my 136,000 Avios back from BA two months after they cancelled my 241 booking – they don’t seem to like my other half because they arrived 24 hours after I called about the booking (she called four or five times, bless her).

Also, whilst I was on the phone, two F seats appeared on BOS to LHR next August. UUA in a flash. £682 and 40,000 Avios per person for a F return to the US.

Nice work Harry — hope it’s all sane enough bu Augusst

    • TGLoyalty says:

£682 return for a CW fair?

Or they let you UUA a WTP to F?

      • Harry T says:

£682 for the J cash flights. Then upgraded using Avios on top of that.

  • RedCurtains says:

anyone know exactly when the amex gold charge – renewal 10k bonus posts? I am 12 months + 1 statement (30 days). Really keen/been waiting for the bonus to post so that I can then upgrade to Platinum
