In the fifth day of the Marriott Bonvoy ‘Week of Wonders’, we are looking at discovering new UK destinations with the theme of ‘Wonders of Discovery’. Not only that, we are launching the first of FIVE daily competitions to win a stay at a Marriott International hotel somewhere in the UK.

With international travel still very much uncertain at the moment, many of us have turned to UK destinations when needing a break. It’s become a great opportunity to discover areas and cities you may have never ventured before in the UK.

Yesterday we covered the current Week of Wonders promotion from Marriott Bonvoy that offers redemption stays for 33% fewer points during off-peak periods, including much of October and November.

We thought we’d flag a couple more locations worth considering if you fancy your own staycation this autumn.

Derbyshire still remains out of major lockdown measures and Breadsall Priory Marriott Hotel & County Club could provide a welcome break, bordering the Peak District National Park and surrounded by stunning natural beauty. Breadsall Priory is the oldest Marriott International hotel in the world, dating back to 1266.

Redemption nights are available from 30,000 points with the 33% off-peak discount, but cash stays are also available from a very reasonable £78 per night at the moment.

Alternatively, London Marriott Hotel County Hall is offering a child-friendly city-break in London this half-term with their ‘Very Important Kids’ package. This includes a teddy bear on arrival, pamper essentials including mini slippers, bathrobes, dressing gowns and dedicated kids toiletries. You can see more on this deal here.

And now we are excited to launch the first of our five daily competitions to celebrate the Marriott Bonvoy Week of Wonders!

Each day from today we will unveil a new prize to win, but you will only have until midnight that day to enter.

Today’s prize is a one night stay at University Arms Hotel, Autograph Collection in Cambridge.

Rob stayed recently and really enjoyed the hotel’s amazing £80m refurbishment and excellent location in the centre of Cambridge. The lucky winner of this prize will enjoy a stay in a Superior room, along with breakfast for themselves and a friend.

If you don’t win, remember that this is one of the best value Marriott Bonvoy redemptions in the UK. Rooms are guaranteed to be 20,000 points per night during October and November, if booked by 15th October, compared with cash rates of £150 – £200.

You can find out more about the University Arms on its website here.

Can’t say I’m a fan of hotels cranking out even more wasteful tat.

  • Harry T says:

Just finished my second stay at this hotel this year. It’s a very good hotel, and I hope I win a free night!

Anyone booking here on an HJH rate should be aware that the rate actually includes free breakfast – this isn’t immediately apparent when booking.

    • DJ says:

What is this HJH rate, does it have any special conditions?

      • Harry T says:

You have to be a Healthcare worker. Hotels do tend to ask for ID.

        • Jill (Kinkell) says:

Do you know if this Would this apply to retired Healthcare workers? Both OH and I slaved away in the health service for most of our working lives.

          • Harry T says:

I am genuinely unsure, as I’ve been asked to present my NHS ID by hotels.

  • AJA says:

Just entered this. Thanks for this week of competitions. 🙂

  • BJ says:

Thanks HfP, competitions have been great recently. Only place I really bother entering competitions.

  • Steve K says:

Are the competitions all going to be of the answer a bleedin’ obvious question variety as you might better describe them as raffles

  • DJ says:

Noticed the hotel has no car park. Any recommended car park near by? Thanks

    • TGLoyalty says:

It has a small car park (very small perhaps 20 spaces)

There is another about 5 mins across parkers piece queen Anne’s I think
