Amazon and American Express have just launched two new products aimed at the small business market. This is last of three articles looking at what they have to offer.

Amazon cards

We introduced the two Cards in this Head for Points article and looked closely at the rewards on offer in this article. Whilst you should be focusing primarily on the rewards, since you need an incentive to switch to this product, I want to look today at some of the other benefits of these Cards.

The Amazon Business Prime Card is rather funky …..

If you want something new to impress your friends and colleagues, the new Amazon Business Prime American Express should do the trick.

It is the first UK American Express Card to be issued in a vertical format, as you can see from the image above.

And it’s metal …..

What you can’t see from the image above is that the Business Prime Card is metal. The only other metal cards offered by Amex in the UK are the personal and business Platinum cards.

The standard Amazon Business Card is not vertical and is not metal. You need to get the Business Prime card for this.

You can have up to 99 Supplementary Cards

You can order up to 99 FREE Supplementary Cards for your colleagues.

This allows you to consolidate more of your business expenses and manage your spending easily.

(Whilst this article isn’t about the Card rewards, it is also worth mentioning that you would earn rewards for yourself based on the spending made by colleagues using your Supplementary Cards.)

Amex has quality reporting

Cards are the core business of American Express, and they do a good job of offering the right sort of Account management tools.

As well as a popular App for monitoring spending on the go, you will benefit from a higher level of transaction reporting than is offered by most card companies. Airline transactions, for example, are broken down by passenger name.

Global support

You benefit from a global network of customer support centres, able to ship replacement Cards to wherever you are if required.

How do you apply?

You can apply for the Amazon Business American Express Cards here.

    “Impress your friends”

    ffs *cringe.

  • Say no to adverts says:

I assume this will be the last amazon Amex credit card email we get for a while???

    • Rob says:

      Yes 🙂

    • Seagull City says:

Of course you know you can cancel your subscription and use many other travel blogs. But since I want HFP to come out the other side of our current difficulty and they have payroll costs to meet I don’t mind lending my attention for 5 seconds to an Amex puff if they get some revenue off it.

I hope the fad for metal cards wanes soon. Metal Curve slides out of my wallet regularly and is far too thick. I’ll be forced to an Apple Watch soon to get rid of it. Then my street cred will really take a hit.

  • Alan says:

Was hoping for some slightly more exciting benefits than these 😂 I’m still not sure what the big hoopla is about the metal cards, I’ve not bothered switching my Plat across yet as I really can’t see the benefit!

  • AJA says:

I’m surprised Amazon hasn’t insisted that the ‘member since 09’ which refers to Amex membership be replaced with how long you’ve been a member of Amazon Prime.

    • pking says:

Would be 07 for me on Prime, compared to 16 on Amex, and yes, Prime was a lot better back then 🙁

  • Neil Spellings says:

Shame one of the key requirements of a business card is missing: integration with bookkeeping and accounting software (e.g. Xero). I’ll be sticking with CapitalOne as this is an essential feature for me – saves a ton of time not having to import statements and reconcile.

    • Owen Rudge says:

I have my Gold Business Amex linked into Xero (and could have linked my BA Amex too I believe) – I don’t see why you couldn’t with this card either.

  • Harrier25 says:

It would’ve been interesting if it covered Business Prime Membership and how it differs from Personal Prime Membership. Is Prime Video included with the business version of Prime?

  • Willie says:

I had a metal Amex card way back in 2010 and thought it was very classy however I have matured a bit in these last ten years and won’t be applying for the Amazon one.

  • Graham says:

Not sure Amazon is targeting this card well, and concerned on how they are mining data, my *9 week* old son has been sent a letter offering him this card.
(We think he is fairly advanced but he hasn’t started a small business yet).
